Robert Henrisson is stepping down as CEO of Supermassive Games. The top executive announced his departure on LinkedIn this Monday following the successful release of the space horror game Directive 8020. He is also stepping down from his parent company, Nordisk Games, where he spent a total of nearly four years. It seems the bosses saw the perfect moment for a personnel reshuffle. The Dark Pictures series is at its peak, so he can leave with a clear conscience.

Who will lead Supermassive Games after the release of Directive 8020?

Robert Henrisson has led the team for the past 30 months; he was appointed CEO in 2024, although he joined Nordisk Games as a partner in 2022. During his tenure, he completely reorganized the management team and honed the company’s strategy for the release of the new anthology. The new game, Directive 8020, ultimately garnered the strongest press reviews in the history of the Dark Pictures franchise.

The departing top manager’s immediate plans:

  • A family vacation throughout the summer.
  • Managing his personal finances and managing a small investment portfolio.
  • Seeking new challenges, Henrisson is open to consulting opportunities.

Before joining Supermassive Games, he significantly improved Avalanche Studios Group’s performance as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Interim CEO. There, he tripled revenue and net profit. In their official statement, Nordisk Games representatives emphasized that the separation was timely and harmonious—a major milestone has been reached, and the studio is ready to move forward. A replacement for the departing boss has not yet been announced. We await official announcements.
