Microsoft itself spoiled key announcements from the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase by accidentally leaking Halo: Campaign Evolved content online. Promotional screenshots of two cosmetic add-ons—the Alpha Halo Armory Pack and the Foundry Armory Pack—surfaced prematurely in the official Microsoft Store. The pages were quickly taken down, but Redditors and Halo fans have already circulated the images online.
What the Leaked Halo Remake Screenshots Show?
Judging by the footage, we’re in for a full-fledged modern reimagining of the cult classic, with completely redesigned visuals and modern graphics. Fans immediately recognized locations from the original 2001 Halo: Combat Evolved in the leaked images, including updated scenes from the legendary Silent Cartographer mission.
In addition to the improved landscapes, the screenshots also featured key characters from the franchise: the charismatic Sergeant Johnson and a completely redesigned version of the AI companion Cortana.
Key findings from the Microsoft Store leak:
-
Space battles: The biggest surprise is the addition of full-fledged space battles, which were completely absent from the original 25-year-old game. One shot clearly shows a combat vehicle in the midst of a large-scale battle outside the atmosphere.
-
Cosmetics: DLC packs called the Alpha Halo Armory Pack and Foundry Armory Pack will offer players unique skins and armor.
-
Remastered story campaign: The visual style of the first game has been rewritten from the ground up to meet modern quality standards.
There has been no official comment from the publisher yet. However, the wait for details won’t be long – we’ll learn the full truth about Halo: Campaign Evolved during the Xbox Games Showcase stream in just a few hours.
