A psychological thriller with a 10/10 rating is being distributed on Steam — you can complete it in half an hour.

Free titles appear regularly on Steam, but it’s not an easy task to dig up something worthwhile among the indie mountains. Sometimes the money is right under your nose while players are looking for hits in other categories. Now in the Valve store, you can pick up a new product for free, which has already managed to collect rave reviews. It will take only one evening to complete, and there will be no donations or microtransactions inside. The perfect plan for a dull weekday slot.

What is known about Forgive or Finalize from 72 Studio?

An experimental thriller called Forgive or Finalize from indie developers from 72 Studio is already available for download. It’s a short visual novel with a thick atmosphere. The tie is simple but catchy: You play as a character named “Jamie” who finds himself trapped in an enclosed space. There is only a monitor in front of you, and on the other side is a mysterious Finn. Difficult puzzles or tactical battles are not worth waiting for. The main gameplay is based on answering uncomfortable questions from the interlocutor and observing where your choice leads.

Steam users received the project very warmly. Some players even compare the novelty to the iconic Doki Doki Literature Club — apparently, the degree of insanity and psychological pressure is comparable here. By the way, one of the reviewers noted that the game challenges trust: is it worth believing a stranger just to survive?

Is it worth spending time on something new on Steam?

Of course, not everyone got it. Some of the audience complains about the excessive transience — it takes about 30 minutes to complete Forgive or Finalize. Someone was confused that some of the “forks” in the plot seem to be deceptions: the game sometimes literally knocks the right button out from under the cursor, imposing its will. But given the zero price tag, this can hardly be considered a serious disadvantage.

By the way, 72 Studio has a couple more interesting things in its portfolio that are worth checking out:

  • BatteryNote is a science fiction novel that was released last October and garnered “likes” from the community.;
  • Drinkrime is a crazy old—school RPG about a talking bottle of alcohol, which is scheduled for release in 2026 (the demo can already be touched).

If you’re looking for a concentrated horror experience without too much water, Forgive or Finalize is definitely worth adding to the library. Not to say that it looks like a coincidence. It’s just that high-quality indie is sometimes free.

The advantages of Forgive or Finalize: gameplay for one evening

The main feature of Forgive or Finalize is fair timekeeping. It will take you at most 30 minutes to complete the game, which is very rare for Steam today. While other free titles are trying to drain time and money through micropayments or endless grinding that limits progress, the 72 Studio project offers a complete story. Short and to the point.

In Forgive or Finalize, there’s no need to stick around for weeks to see the finale. You just launch the game on Steam, reach the credits in one sitting, and move on with your business. This is probably the best option for a rainy day when you want to quickly fill a break with something atmospheric. We can also say that in 2026, such a concise “no strings attached” format is much more appreciated than another service trap game. A coincidence? Unlikely. It’s just that the developers at 72 Studio respect your time.
