Tournament organizer StarLadder has finally released details of the second stage of its Stake Ranked rating series for Counter-Strike 2. This Tier-2 event is a serious chance for teams to tighten their positions, and the battle will unfold for a solid 100,000 US dollars (about 74,893 pounds).
Announced back on March 6, the second episode of Stake Ranked will retain the structure of its predecessor. There will be three ways to get to the main stage— through open selections, closed qualifications, or by receiving a direct invite based on Valve’s regional rating (VRS).
Invitations, by the way, will be issued based on the results of global ratings for April and May, and the teams that occupy the 13th place and below are going to be invited.

Schedule of qualifications and finals of Stake Ranked
The open qualifiers are scheduled for April 21-22 — the top two teams from there will fly into the closed selection. There, from April 29 to May 3, 16 teams will compete in a single-elimination format to determine the two lucky winners who will go to the main tournament.
And that’s where the most intriguing part begins — eight teams (invited and the winners of the qualifier) will meet at a LAN tournament in the Schengen area. Not only is the grand prize of $25,000 (~18,703 pounds) at stake, but precious VRS points are also at stake — they are likely to be the deciding factor in allocating slots for future Major Counter-Strike tournaments.
Stake Ranked Episode 2 is the second of six scheduled tournaments from StarLadder and the Stake crypto casino. It is clear that the organizers have seriously decided to dominate the shooting gallery-2 scenes in the ecosystem.
Stage calendar for Stake Ranked Episode 2 in 2026
When it comes to timings, Stake Ranked Episode 2 received perhaps the most transparent schedule in the current CS2 season — the organizers decided not to mess around and built a clear vertical selection. First, the teams will be driven through a sieve of open qualifications in April, then in May they will face a tough cut in closed selections, and the final chord will be LAN, scheduled for May 27-30, where only the most persistent and “filtered” participants will enter the server. This structure is not just dry numbers on the calendar, but a full—fledged team battle route that allows fans to comfortably monitor the progress of their favorites from the first online matches to the offline finals.
If you capture the key points, the graph looks like this:
-
Open Qualifications — April: this is the online start for everyone, where the first and often the most difficult steps in the selection process are taken.
-
Closed qualifications — May: the stage for the chosen ones, where the final selection of the strongest teams takes place before the decisive stage.
-
LAN finals — May 27-30: the culmination, the main offline part of the Stake Ranked Episode 2 tournament, where the fate of the prize money and rating points will be decided.
It is worth noting that it is precisely this density of events that forces organizations to review their schedules, because there is more at stake than just winning an individual match. And since we’re talking about the significance of these stages, it’s time to figure out why the Tier-2 scene has suddenly turned into an arena for the survival of even the most famous tags.
The role of the Valve VRS rating system for Tier 2 teams
Due to Valve’s reliance on the VRS system, even top tags are now forced to look at small championships just to avoid falling out of the global top. Investments in small tournaments are growing, and this provides a great incentive for both the grandees and the young mixes.

The closed qualification of the first episode of Stake Ranked is underway right now. Teams such as FOKUS, Fnatic, Team Nemesis and Berlin International Gaming (BIG) are competing for a ticket to Barcelona — the main event will be held there from April 1 to April 4.
At the same time, StarLadder launched another series of tournaments in partnership with the LORGAR periphery brand — this marathon will be held from March 12 to April 26.
