Especially if you want to get to the roofs of buildings – and believe me, there is something to see there.

The roofs often hide all the most delicious things: weapons, new suits, all sorts of rare things. But the most interesting things begin outside of your native Swindon. There are open spaces, strange locations, surprises at every step. And here, without a jetpack, you will simply lose half the impressions of the game.

As soon as you get a jetpack, you will feel completely different. Movement will become not only faster, but also much more fun. Jumps, flights, falls, tricks – all this makes the gameplay lively and unpredictable. There are different types of jetpacks in the game, and not all of them are equally cool. The regular jetpack is a start, but if you want to really get going, try to find the “Balloon” or “Flying Pack” as soon as possible. With them, flights become longer, the controls are smoother, and the sensations are an order of magnitude brighter.

Amazing Frog? is a game that doesn’t lead you by the hand. You won’t find any classic tutorial missions or pop-up hints at every turn. Instead, the developers have built various diagrams and tables into the game world to help you understand the basics. Want to get a general idea of the map or find out what features are already available and what is still in development? Welcome to the town hall, a kind of control center where you can see everything that matters.

The game is completely free: you can explore the map as you please, find interesting places and just have fun. Different types of transport are scattered everywhere – mopeds, cars, trucks, buses, and sometimes even a taxi. All of this can be used to ride and explore the world. In addition, the map is full of funny objects:

• guns that launch the character into the air,
• powerful fans that act as elevators,
• springboards that provide access to hard-to-reach areas,
• various building elements that you can experiment with,
• unusual interactive objects scattered throughout the map.

All these things add fun and open up a bunch of ways to interact with the environment.

As for weapons, they are here, but the game remains within the age rating. No violence: even if you shoot someone in the head, the character will simply shake himself off and move on. No one dies here, which makes the project more accessible to a wider audience, including younger players.

It is worth understanding: Amazing Frog? is still in early access. This means that the development is far from complete, and the game is actively developing. And only two people are working on it! Since the release, there have already been underground tunnels teeming with zombie frogs, a new race track, new vehicles, expanded map areas, and many new objects to interact with. All this is just part of the plans, and even more content is promised in the future. By the way, the final version (V3) will most likely receive a separate name – Amazing Frog? 2, while the current V2 will officially be the first part of the series.

However, not all players like the lack of a clear direction. Amazing Frog? does not have a full-fledged story campaign or quest chain. Yes, there are a couple of missions, but compared to other sandboxes, there is a lack of richness here. Sometimes it feels like the game world is a bit empty: yes, NPCs roam the city, suburbs, and other areas, but these locations themselves look almost lifeless. I would like more activity – especially on the outskirts, in the forests, near the laboratory, or on the beach. Yes, zombies in the sewers are fun, but that’s not all. However, the map in the game is really big. There are forests, lakes, mountains, an ocean and, of course, a central city. The potential is huge – and if the developers add more action, Amazing Frog? will become much more exciting. It is also impressive that all this is a single world, without loading between levels: all zones are simply located in different corners of the map.

There are currently three versions of the game available. V3 looks the most modern – it offers better visuals and fresher mechanics. But even here, not everything is smooth: optimization is still lame, there are FPS drops even on powerful video cards. In comparison, V2 feels more stable, and it has more content. There is a huge map, lots of transport and missions available there. However, there is often nothing to do between key zones, and this reduces the dynamics a little. Overall, the game world feels empty in places. Instead of separate levels, the developers added “specialized zones” like a space station or a zombie lair – but in essence, these are just buildings and areas on a common map. It’s nice that there is almost no loading between versions 2 and 3, while the old version takes longer to load.

At the moment, the best choice is version 2 – it is the most stable and rich. But in the future, the bet will be made on V3, because it will be the basis for the final release. If everything goes according to plan, we will get an updated and improved Amazing Frog? 2, but for now it remains to just enjoy the madness that is already there.
