FGC-Frosty Faustings XVIII Festival officially confirmed: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate returns to the competitive tournament schedule in 2026. The announcement appeared online without too much fuss, but for the Smash scene it’s a clear signal — discipline is back in the game.
The nuances of the festival include two formats: singles and doubles. Moreover, the doubles tournament will be a separate event — it will be held on January 31, 2026. Participation is paid: $5 per player or $ 10 per team. Registration will close on January 19 at 5:59 GMT. The broadcast starts after the formation of the top 6, who will play for the championship title.
Super Smash Bros. Single Player Tournament Ultimate is included in the main day of the festival — February 1, 2026. Participation is free for all holders of the Frosty Faustings badge. Registration is synchronized with doubles, the deadline is the same. All matches will be shown in a special broadcast format.
A separate focus is the prize pool. The singles will draw $1,000 provided by the UR Tournaments team and the UGS Gaming esports equipment rental service. For a Smash event inside the FGC festival, this is a significant increase in motivation.
Frosty Faustings 18 Program and Main Disciplines
Frosty Faustings XVIII 2026 is an annual FGC festival, first launched by Mike ‘ElvenShadow‘ Boczar. In 2026, it will be held from January 29 to February 1 in Illinois (USA) and will traditionally combine tournaments, community events and show matches.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is just a part of the program. Earlier, Riot Games confirmed its partnership with the festival and will hold a 2XKO tournament in a mixed format with a prize pool of $50,000. The grid also includes the qualifying stages of the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising and Guilty Gear: Strive Arc World Tour, as well as the Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O World Stage single-player tournament.
The official Frosty Faustings page already features the key FGC disciplines of 2026:
-
Street Fighter 6
-
Tekken 8
-
FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves
-
Dragon Ball FighterZ
Frosty Faustings XVIII is gradually forming a dense and competitive program, where Smash once again takes its place — not as a guest, but as a full-fledged element of the FGC ecosystem.
