Beşiktaş Esports

Beşiktaş Esports was the League of Legends division of Beşiktaş, the celebrated Turkish sports club, and it competed in the Turkish Championship League (TCL) within Riot Games’ EMEA region. Now disbanded, the team was among the traditional-sports brands that lent institutional weight and mainstream recognition to Turkish competitive gaming.

A Football Club in Esports

Beşiktaş holds a distinguished place in Turkish sport, and its foray into League of Legends was notable as an early example of a major football institution embracing esports. Carrying the club’s famous black-and-white identity onto the Rift, Beşiktaş Esports brought an established fan culture and organisational backing to the TCL, helping to legitimise the discipline in the eyes of a broad Turkish audience.

The Turkish Championship League has long been the country’s flagship competition and a key part of the EMEA esports map.
