Caps joins the League of Legends Hall of Legends

Rasmus “Caps” Winther has been selected for the League of Legends Hall of Legends. The announcement trailer appeared before the 2026 World Championship period. Caps becomes the first European player chosen for the annual honour.

The Danish mid laner built his senior career with Fnatic and G2 Esports. His record includes sixteen LEC titles, an international MSI title and two World Championship final appearances. He remains an active G2 player during 2026.

Caps reached two consecutive World finals

Caps played his first full European top-level season with Fnatic in 2017. The team won both European splits during 2018. Fnatic then reached the World Championship final in South Korea. Caps joined G2 Esports before the 2019 season. G2 won both European splits and the Mid-Season Invitational that year. The team also reached the World Championship final in Paris.

Those results gave Caps consecutive World final appearances with two organisations. No European team won either final, but the runs remain important parts of the region’s recent international record. The 2019 MSI title remains G2’s largest completed international trophy. Caps played mid lane throughout that campaign. The team defeated Team Liquid in the final after beating T1 in the semifinal.

His European title record spans many formats

Caps has won sixteen top-level European titles across his career. The total covers earlier EU LCS seasons and later LEC formats. It also includes the renamed Versus competition during 2026. The format changed several times while Caps remained active. Some seasons used spring and summer splits, while others added winter and season finals. Each title came through the rules used during that competition.

Winning across formats required repeated qualification for playoffs and finals. Caps also worked with changing team-mates during those years. G2 rebuilt several positions without removing him from the central role. The title count describes completed domestic success, not every international result. It does not turn tournament eliminations into victories. The Hall of Legends selection considers the full career rather than one isolated season.

  • Sixteen top-level European titles
  • Winner of the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational
  • World Championship finalist in 2018 and 2019
  • Senior teams: Fnatic and G2 Esports

Two teams shaped his senior career

Fnatic gave Caps his first regular place in Europe’s leading league. He developed beside experienced players and reached the 2018 World final. That period established him as one of Europe’s strongest mid laners. His move to G2 created a roster with Caps and Perkz in different positions. The team won MSI and reached another World final during the first season. Later lineups kept Caps while changing other roles.

G2 also moved Caps between mid lane and the bottom position during 2020. He returned to mid lane after one split. That short change added another role to his competitive record without becoming permanent. Caps remains connected with G2 in 2026. The Hall of Legends honour therefore recognises an active player. Future results will add to the record already used for the selection.

The honour includes more than match statistics

The Hall of Legends was created to recognise players who shaped League of Legends esports. Competitive results form one part of the selection.

Longevity, regional influence and memorable international performances also provide context. Caps became a central figure during Europe’s strongest modern international period. His teams reached major finals and regularly qualified for the World Championship. He also maintained a distinctive aggressive style in mid lane.

The honour normally includes an in-game event and cosmetic content connected to the selected player. Exact items and release dates follow separate announcements. The trailer confirms the player before every store detail appears. Fans may compare inductees from different regions and periods. Those comparisons remain opinions rather than official match results. Caps’ own record stands through confirmed titles, appearances and teams.

The announcement arrives before Worlds 2026

The 2026 World Championship begins in North America during October. Its stages take place in Los Angeles, the Dallas area and New York. The final is scheduled for Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Caps and G2 still face their regional route toward that tournament. The Hall of Legends announcement does not provide automatic qualification. G2 qualify only through results required by the current LEC format.

This separation keeps the honour distinct from the active season. Caps receives recognition for his completed career while continuing to compete. His next tournament results remain undecided. The confirmed record already explains the selection. Caps won sixteen European titles, MSI 2019 and reached two World finals. He now represents Europe inside the Hall of Legends while remaining an active professional player.
