Yorick is the last of something that no longer exists anywhere else. He belonged to a religious order that’s been forgotten by everyone but him, and he alone survived long enough to inherit both its blessing and its burden: power over the dead.

Life Among the Drowned Isles

That power isn’t something he chose for company. Stranded on the Shadow Isles, Yorick’s only companions are the corpses he raises and the wraiths that shriek around him — hardly the fellowship anyone would wish for, but the only one available to a man marooned among the dead. Other figures touched by the Isles’ curse, like Hecarim, share that same isolation, each shaped by the Black Mist in their own way.

What looks monstrous from a distance hides a purpose most wouldn’t expect. Yorick isn’t raising the dead out of malice — he’s trying to end the Ruination’s grip on his home and finally let the isles rest, even if the tools available to him are corpses and mist. His kit follows the same logic: Last Rites deals bonus damage and heals him, digging a grave whenever it kills a champion, large monster, or finds one already dead. Dark Procession summons a destructible wall that blocks enemy movement outright. Mourning Mist throws a globule that reduces armor, damages, slows, and marks a target, letting his summoned units speed toward whoever’s marked. Eulogy of the Isles, his ultimate, calls forward the Maiden of the Mist, boosting his damage against her target while she raises her own Walkers from the enemies she kills. Shepherd of Souls, his passive, lets him summon Mist Walkers outright — an army built entirely from what the Isles refuse to let rest. Smite can finish off Mist Walkers or even the Maiden herself when the moment calls for it, and thinning out his summoned horde before engaging Yorick directly takes away much of what makes him dangerous, since most Walkers fall to little more than a single attack or spell. Even Dark Procession’s wall can simply be broken down given enough sustained damage against it.
