The Story of Cassiopeia
Of the Du Couteau family’s children, Cassiopeia was once considered the youngest and the most beautiful, a description that no longer applies now that a venom-driven transformation has left her looking nothing like the noble daughter of Noxus she used to be.
The change traces back to her own ambition. She went looking for ancient power in the crypts beneath Shurima, and what she found there found her first: a monstrous tomb guardian whose bite carried venom potent enough to remake her entirely. What emerged was a viper-like predator, cunning and quick, with a gaze that can turn an enemy to stone.
She keeps one tie to her old life intact, her sister Katarina remains family even as everything else about Cassiopeia has changed beyond recognition. The rest of her energy goes into manipulation and the slow work of getting what she wants under cover of night. Her kit favors the same patient cruelty: Serpentine Grace makes every point of Move Speed she gathers more effective than it would be on anyone else. Noxious Blast poisons an area and speeds her up if it catches a champion. Miasma lays down clouds of poison that slow, ground, and chip away at anyone who lingers in them. Twin Fang punishes poisoned targets hardest, healing her back for a share of the damage and resetting if the target dies. Petrifying Gaze, her ultimate, stuns anyone facing her directly while merely slowing those with their back turned, a fitting mechanic for someone whose gaze alone is now a weapon.
She’s played in the mid lane, her Mana fueling poisons and gaze alike, patient tools for someone who no longer needs to rush anything. Other Noxians such as Annie wield very different kinds of danger, but Cassiopeia’s transformation left her the most literally venomous of the empire’s daughters.
