Yorick’s health pool is the reason he loses this one. He finishes at 2,588 health, the larger number in the pairing, and A Thousand Cuts scales its bonus magic damage off the target’s health while healing Gwen for part of what it deals. The stat that normally protects him is the stat being used against him, and 534 games on 16.13.1 return 44.8% for Yorick.

Hallowed Mist is the second half of the problem. It protects Gwen from anything outside its area, so Mist Walkers standing at the edge and the Maiden of the Mist both stop contributing until they walk in — and summoned units do not choose to walk in on command. An entire passive and an ultimate are answered by one placement.

Resistances tell the same story. Gwen opens with 39 armor to 36 and reaches 122.3 by level 18 against 112.5, so Last Rites and Mourning Mist land into more armor than they strip. Both champions deal mixed damage, which stops either from solving the other with a single resistance item, and Grievous Wounds matters more than usual because both sustain: Last Rites heals Yorick on his empowered attack, and Gwen refunds herself on every basic. Skip ‘n Slash then gives her a dash plus temporary attack range that a 175 baseline cannot answer, at a difficulty rating of 5 against 6.
