Chronobreak is why this looks closer than it plays. Ekko becomes untargetable, rewinds to where he stood seconds earlier and heals, undoing a good share of any burst aimed at him — and burst from Nunu arrives on a timer anyone can see coming. Even so, 486 games on patch 16.13.1 put Nunu & Willump ahead at 54.7%.

Control is the explanation. Absolute Zero slows everything in its area before detonating for heavy damage, and Ekko’s escape has to be spent surviving it, meaning one ultimate trades for another every time. Snowball Barrage roots champions caught by the volley and Biggest Snowball Ever! knocks up, so Phase Dive — the evasive roll whose follow-up attack teleports him to his target — must be timed around two separate interrupts. His damage is mixed, with Z-Drive Resonance adding magic damage on every third attack or spell against the same target, so one resistance never covers it; the magic output coming back at him makes his 32 base armor irrelevant. Durability is closer than the classes suggest: 655 base health for Ekko against 610, then 2,338 at level 18 against 2,140. What separates them is the difficulty rating, 8 against 4, since Ekko has to hit a narrow window to justify the pick at all. Full kit on the Ekko page.
