Rebuttal reflects enemy projectiles back at the attacker and prevents Mel from taking damage while it holds, and Kai’Sa’s kit is built almost entirely from projectiles: the Icathian Rain missile swarm, Void Seeker, and every Plasma-stacking basic attack. One ability like that should define the matchup. It does not — 1,424 games on patch 16.13.1 give Kai’Sa 54.0% and an Easy rating.

Where the advantage actually comes from:

• Mel opens with 21 armor and takes physical damage from a carry with 59 attack damage and 335 movement speed against her 330, a gap Supercharge widens further before it converts into attack speed.
• Searing Brilliance grants up to nine bonus projectiles on her next attack after casting, but generating them spends the abilities that also build Overwhelm stacks for Golden Eclipse, so the damage pattern telegraphs itself.
• Solar Snare is the only hard lock in her kit, and Killer Instinct can be held in reserve to answer it rather than spent on an opening.
• Radiant Volley damages an area repeatedly instead of at once, which suits a support role better than a duel against a champion who can walk out of it.
