Katarina reaching the bot side is uncommon, and 475 games on patch 16.13.1 is a modest record by the standards of the role. Within it Jhin manages only 44.8%, a Hard rating that lines up with how badly his kit handles a resourceless assassin.

The range column is misleading. Katarina attacks from 125 units, but Shunpo is a blink that ignores that number entirely, and Preparation adds a burst of movement speed on top of her 335 base against Jhin’s 330. Voracity slashes her remaining cooldowns whenever a champion she has damaged dies, so one kill in a skirmish tends to become two. Jhin has no dash, and Whisper’s four-shot magazine forces a reload window during which he cannot answer a dive at all. Bouncing Blade also lets her push the wave from a distance where punishing her is rarely realistic.

Damage type points the build straight at magic resistance. Katarina is a magic threat, so Jhin’s 30 base MR and his armor growth to 103.9 accomplish very little; health and resistances are what carry him through a Death Lotus channel. Captive Audience is his best pre-emptive tool, since the trap slows before it detonates and can break a Shunpo chain, and Deadly Flourish roots her once an ally has landed a slow.
