The Witchspire world doesn’t forgive haste, but it doesn’t lead anyone by the hand either. This is a huge survival sandbox where you can spend hours collecting resources, crafting upgrades, and hunting spirits — and that’s not counting flying on a broom or taming familiars. VPEsports (yes, the one) went through the game first and squeezed a pack of life hacks out of it. Here’s the main thing to remember before starting.

How do I change the difficulty settings in Witchspire

They like to argue on the Internet that “real witches only play hardcore.” Forget it. Witchspire allows you to adjust the complexity to suit yourself — when creating a new world or even on the fly in an existing one. Do you want a cozy adventure with your friends? Reduce incoming damage, boost the experience multiplier for you and your familiar, and add more loot from mobs. Are you hungry for blood? Make your enemies hurt more and slow down your progress. By the way, you can also adjust the “spirit delay chance” there — the higher, the more often new familiars come across. A useful feature if you want to collect the whole collection.

Farming resources and locations on the Witchspire map

It sounds corny, but it’s critical in Witchspire. Every flower, every branch, every killed Froblin is a resource. The first improvements will take a lot of wood and Spiritual dust. You’ll also need Froblin’s Slime and Ash Flowers. The plot, fortunately, will take you to the right places, but without the habit of “picking up everything in a row” you will quickly hit the ceiling. By the way, the map doesn’t really help you remember where things grow. So keep in mind: Froblins live in Froblin Camps (logically), and Chirili live in Chirili Crater. After the first visit, these points will be marked on the map, but you will have to remember the link “resource → location” yourself.

Crafting Verdantbloom Petals for Cheap Heal

There is nothing to do without healing items in Witchspire. Mobs and bosses will take away health in packs, and Spiritual dust for upgrades is obtained only in battle. Therefore, as soon as you open the workbench, craft the Verdantbloom Petals. These green flowers (Verdantblums) are literally underfoot. One flower turns into a petal, and you have a pack of cheap pills. Potions are more effective, of course, but the petals can be stamped by the thousands. Fill up the quick access toolbar with them and forget about starvation in the fields.

Why upgrade the main Hearth and the Tree of Luminaries

You will find the very first Hearth in Witchspire almost immediately. Here is such a decoration. The Hearth itself is the heart of your base, and you can scatter several of them around the map to teleport between them. But that’s not the main thing. Access to really powerful upgrades and cool gear opens only after leveling the main Hearth. So don’t run around the plot yet — drag resources to upgrade. The higher the level, the more recipes and skills are unlocked in the Tree of Luminaries. And yes, you won’t even get a broom without an improved Hearth. And everyone wants to fly.

Clearing points of interest and Froblin camps

Are you free from quests and resource gathering? Run to explore all the “?” on the map. These are the points of interest (TI). There’s almost always something to gain: loot, experience for you and your familiars. Take the Froblin camps, for example. Clean them up and get a lot of experience and Froblin Slime (it is needed both to improve the Hearth and to craft). And if you’re lucky, you’ll come across chests with potions, scrolls, or even armor. Another example: “Breeding grounds for Rocklings.” There you will not only collect Clay (a useful resource), but you will also be able to farm the Rocklings themselves until one of them agrees to become your familiar. What’s not a reason to deviate from the route?

How to use Incense to capture spirits?

Collecting creatures is a separate thrill in Witchspire. Most of those you kill can be recruited if the spirit lingers. At the start, you will be given one familiar to choose from, and then it’s a matter of chance. But it can be upgraded. Use incense before hunting — they seriously increase the chance that the spirit will linger. Where can I get them? Incense is often stored in chests, dropped from bosses, or crafted in the Witchcraft Circle at your base. So if you’ve been eyeing a particular pet for a long time, first light the altar.

Where can I find a Broom and useful Witchspire resources?

While we’re on the subject of mechanics, here are a couple of tips for those who don’t want to poke around blindly:

  • How to take off: Unlock the Broom. Without it, you are literally tied to the ground.
  • Where to find the key: one of the underground caves hides it in its belly (a trick quest).
  • Resources: ingots of copper and iron, as well as simple ritual candles — all this will have to be searched or crafted.
  • Familiars: how to get them and where all the available species are found is a separate song.

Witchspire Guide answers to newbie questions

Which coven to choose at the start of the Witchspire game

At the current stage of Early Access, the game releases two factions — Cloudpiercers (sharpened by the Spellblade style) and Nightscribes (masters of the Wand branch). Each guild puts out its own pack of starter gear and puts up a unique passive, which gently guides the build. Are you planning to fly into the cooperative? Take different schools. Buffs stack up perfectly, which makes a motley party much more effective than a squad of clones. However, now it’s more about visual aesthetics and ENT, rather than hardcore class frameworks. So feel free to poke into the faction whose vibe is closer to you.

The chance to tame familiars and the Spirit Charmer perk

Vacuuming absolutely all the fauna in the game will not work. The mechanics here are as follows: after the death of a mob, a spirit ball will spawn. I flew into the sky, we’re splitting up, there will be no connection. If the sphere is stuck in place, immediately hold down the F key. Do you want to increase the chances of a successful connection? Burn Incense directly in the kneading (it will give +10% probability for 20 seconds) or download the Spirit Charmer perk in the Luminary system. Access to this node, by the way, opens only when the taming skill is upgraded to five and if your base Hearth is upgraded to the third level. Don’t even try to catch the corrupt story bosses – they drop extremely valuable loot.

Pet work modes on workbenches and in combat

Witchspire has a strict division of labor system here. Your zoo functions in two planes: either the spirits crush enemies in the roaster (the limit is three carcasses per squad), or they work on machines, boosting the speed of crafting. They won’t be allowed to sit on two chairs, so you’ll have to choose. (Yes, resource management is harsh here). Each production station, characteristically, requires a strictly defined type of assistant. Therefore, at the start, hunt everyone in a row, and do not collect exclusively the combat elite.

Features of hunger and survival mechanics in the game

Witchspire developers deliberately cut out the stuffy mechanics of mandatory meals. It is physically impossible to starve here. Food and drinks work exclusively as first-aid kits and temporary stat boosters. (The solution, to be honest, is extremely successful). The emphasis is on comfortable exploration, rather than a panicked search for bushes with berries every five minutes.

Fast movement and teleportation between bases

Each installed Hearth is your personal fast travel. You can jump between them instantly. Spreading several bases across different biomes is a reinforced concrete tactic so as not to wear out your feet in endless marathons for ore. At the same time, only one hub bears the title of “main”. It is he who dictates the maximum building radius and unlocks high-level branches.

How to quickly accumulate Luminary Points for the Luminary Tree

Luminary is the fundamental web of progression, where literally everything is stuck. From fresh recipes and blueprints to combat skills and transport magic (the very Broom opens here). The currency for pumping is poured for levelups. The experience itself drips for any sneeze in the game: chopped firewood, brewed a potion, cleared the camp — the scale creeps up. Even with Early Access, the tree is set up so that you’ll have a fresh goal for each session.

Easter Egg with voice acting by Victoria Atkin and Matt Mercer

Solely for the sake of the fan, this is a local greeting from the creators. If at the start you entrusted the voice acting of the witch to actors Victoria Atkin or Matt Mercer, then by pressing Z the character will give funny voice reactions while exploring the world. The gameplay impact is zero. But it adds a lot of atmosphere.
