The Grappling Hook in Saros isn’t for beginners. Getting it requires some effort: first, traversing two biomes, defeating a couple of bosses, and then fiddling around with consoles. But it’s worth it—without this gear, you won’t be able to interact with the blue platforms and special drones that open shortcuts and secret areas.

Where to find the Grappling Hook in the Broken Climb biome
It’s located in the third biome, the Broken Climb. But getting there isn’t easy. First, deal with the second region: clear it completely and defeat the local boss, The Prophet. Only then will the passage to the next biome open. Have you reached the Broken Climb? Then prepare for a fight with Bastion. Combat tip: keep your distance. His attacks are wide-area and nasty, but there are jumping platforms scattered around the arena—use them to dodge the damage waves. One or two well-aimed jumps, and you’re safe.

Bastion Fighting Tactics and Terminal Activation
Once you’ve dispatched Bastion, follow the main route. Pretty soon, you’ll come across another Soltari station. Before it lies a large area with a storage facility. It’s worth stopping here: search all the side rooms, collect useful gear, and activate several control terminals. This is optional, by the way—without activating the terminals, the path will not open.
Next comes a series of story objectives. You’ll need to interact with several consoles right out in the open. And finally, return to a familiar area, launch a device there, and activate the mechanism. If it works, the grappling hook is yours. Forever. After that, it will always be in your inventory, during each new run. Convenient, right?
Mechanics and hidden equipment bonuses
The main function is predictable: now you can easily reach any glowing blue platforms. You can also latch onto stationary drones, which will helpfully transport you to other areas. See the icon next to the grappling point? Press the action button (Triangle on a gamepad), and your character will automatically be pulled to the target. It couldn’t be simpler.

Secrets of using the grappling hook to collect collectibles
Without this equipment, you wouldn’t have collected many collectibles—they’re intentionally scattered in places you can’t reach with a regular jump. In later biomes, the grappling hook even becomes part of the main route. It also opens access to hidden journals and additional rewards, which the developers have hidden in the most inconspicuous corners.
How to become invulnerable while flying with the grappling hook
But there’s a nuance that the game discreetly keeps quiet about. While you’re flying on the hook, you’re shielded. Complete invulnerability. Can you imagine? In some arenas (even boss fights!), you can fly from platform to platform, ignoring enemy projectiles. No damage. None.
The hook’s cooldown is ridiculously short. Use this mechanic at every turn—there’s no limit to the number of times you can activate it. Fly as much as you want.
