Crimson Desert has released a new update—and the main feature is not just the trivial content, but the mechanics with hand-crafted Legendaries. The developers have added the ability to replay boss battles and two new “legendary” pets. The toughest of them is the Iron Eagle. Unlike the Phoenix, which is tied to a specific quest, this mechanical bird is not simply obtained through the story. You will have to work hard. We will tell you how to get the Iron Eagle in Crimson Desert.

Where to find and how to obtain mercury for Iron Eagle

The Iron Eagle does not eat regular meat or grass. The only food that increases its trust is mercury. Yes, that same silvery liquid that is scattered across several locations. The first deposit is north of the Silverwolf Mountains in Pailun, directly above the letter “B” on the map (if you are looking at the “Wolf Mountains”). The second good spot is north of the Witch’s Soul Chamber in Demeniss, just east of Deadfire Mountain.

There is an important caveat here: if you are going to the deposit near the Witch’s Soul Chamber, first deal with the owner of the area. She guards the approaches in Chapter 9. Otherwise, crows will attack you and you will pass out. Unpleasant.

How to mine mercury pieces using frost magic

The mercury itself is not easy to mine. A puddle of liquid deals damage if you stand in it. So, grab a bow, equip Charged Shot with the Frost element, and freeze a piece of mercury. It will split, release some of the liquid, and you will get the mercury pieces in your inventory. It is simple, but tedious.

Feeding process and raising pet trust levels

To raise the Iron Eagle’s trust to 100%, you will need at least 20 individual pieces of mercury. Unlike regular pets, the bond gauge with this iron bird fills very slowly. It will not work right away—prepare for several forays if you did not bring enough mercury the first few times. The mechanics are well-designed: the eagle is completely worth the investment.

Summon location and Iron Eagle activation time

Once you have mercury in your pocket, head to the far east, to the Delessia region. The specific location is the Hawkstone Ruins. Landmark: just above the “A” in “Delessia” on the map. There, you will find a huge sculpture made of goods, mechanical parts, and a massive metal bird at the top. There is a spot to interact with it, but there is a catch.

Iron eagle summon statue

The mechanism activates precisely at 4:45 AM in-game time. Not a second earlier or later. Sit and wait until the timer reaches the required number—only then will you be able to summon the Iron Eagle. A short cutscene will then play, where this piece of iron will appear dramatically before you.

As soon as control is restored, take out the Iron Eagle Totem Pole and place it on the ground next to the statue. Pour the mercury you have collected into it and wait. The eagle is quite capricious. If the pole is not directly in its flight path, the bird might ignore the treat. So, plan your position carefully.

If there is enough mercury, the Iron Eagle will start gobbling it up until it runs out of food or its trust bar reaches 100%. By the way, an important point: the Iron Eagle Totem Pole itself is only awarded after completing the “Trembling Forest” quest chain in the Pororin Forest location. If you have not done it, you will not get it. It is all logical.

Where to recover lost Totem Pole from Cliff

What if the pole is not in your inventory even though you have completed the quest? Then run to Graymane’s camp to see Cliff. He will have a “Recover Lost Item” option in his dialogue—take it there.

Completing the ritual and auto-loot functions

When the ritual is complete, the “Claim” option will appear. Click it, and the Iron Eagle is officially your pet. After that, you can go to your inventory, open the “Pets” tab, rename the new piece of iron, and equip it. Please note: it does not provide combat bonuses, like other pets in Crimson Desert. However, it will gather materials from corpses and the ground—a useful auto-collector if you do not want to fetch every little thing yourself.
