How to Extinguish and Put Away Torch in Gothic 1 Remake — Non-Obvious Sleep Trick - Image 1
6 hours ago vpesports

In the remake of the iconic Gothic 1, torches work very differently than in most modern RPGs. The nameless protagonist can easily retrieve and light a light source, but trying to put it back in his pocket quickly becomes a headache. The developers simply didn’t provide a direct way to do this, something the game clearly warns you about from the very first minute.

How do I remove and put a torch back in my inventory in Gothic 1 Remake?

Putting a burning torch directly in my pocket is technically impossible. As soon as you try to remove the item or switch to an equipped weapon, the protagonist automatically sticks the torch in the ground. The torch will continue to burn where you left it.

The only way to return this valuable resource to your inventory is with one subtle trick:

  • First, find any available bed in Gothic 1 Remake. Hide the torch in the usual way, sticking it in the ground nearby.
  • Go to bed. By the time the protagonist wakes up, the flame will have burned out, and the burnt torch can be safely picked up and stuffed into your backpack.

In a dense forest or deep in the mines, this trick won’t work—no one will let you drag a bed along. If you lit a fire in the wilderness, accept the loss. You can pick it up from the ground and carry it again, but the game won’t allow you to fully store it in your inventory without sleeping first.
