Version 1.0 was released on July 10, 2026, and with it, the Palworld map has changed beyond recognition—old guides can safely be thrown into the trash. The best location for a base now depends not only on the game stage but also on which resource you prioritize: ore, coal, sulfur, quartz, crude oil, or the new endgame materials—hexolite and soralite. We’ve collected the latest coordinates, verified them against official sources, and laid them out in detail: where to build a starting base, where a resource base, and where to climb only in the late game. And yes, we’re also tired of endless raids, so we’ve also taken security into account.

Best Locations for Starting Base in Palworld 1.0 at Levels 1-20

The first few hours in Palworld are a time when you don’t yet know where to run, and the Pals scatter at the first raid. Your goal is to find a flat area with ore, stone, and wood to quickly accumulate basic resources and avoid wasting time on long runs. Below are three proven locations that won’t let you down.

Nachal Hill (233, -488) — Windy Hills

Directly below the starting point, between the Grassy Behemoth Hills and Nachalo Hill teleporters. The area is flat, the terrain is almost perfect for your first build—you won’t have to worry about placing a palbox on a slope. Surrounding it are ore deposits, forest, stone, and a ton of low-level Pals that you can immediately put to work. Raids rarely come here, and if they do, they fend off the situation with bare hands. An excellent option for quietly mastering the basics of building without the distraction of survival.

Desolate Church (70, -405) — Windy Hills

Another starting area, and this one has its own teleporter—right next to the church. The abandoned building serves as a good landmark, and behind it are several ore veins. The area is level, surrounded by mushrooms, wood, stone, and Melpaks, which provide wool for your first crafts. The church walls can be used as natural defense if enemies decide to attack. According to our data, this location is a favorite among beginners due to its compact size and proximity to everything they need.

Alternative: Golden Hills (0, -524)

If you don’t like the previous two options, consider Golden Hills—the coordinates are exactly at zero. There’s also ore and wood here, but the area is a bit more open, and raids are more frequent. The hilly terrain allows for a wide field of view, making it easy to spot enemies. It’s a viable first base option if you’re up for a bit of adventure.

Where to Build Base in Palworld for Coal and Sulfur Mining at Levels 20-40

Once your first base is established and the Pals have grown, it’s time to expand. You’ll need sulfur, coal, and pure quartz—and simple hills won’t cut it. The mid-game in Palworld 1.0 is when you start crafting firearms, saddles, and improved armor. We’ve found locations where you can mine all of this without any hassle.

Palworld coal sulfur base

Mount Flopy Summit (34, -50) — Moonless Shore

North of the Mount Flopy Summit teleporter is a small area with sulfur, stone, coal, and mid-tier fire pits. The area has a slight slope, but it’s not critical—a couple of foundations solves the problem. Nearby, to the east, there’s a tree with skill fruits, useful for leveling up. If you’re looking for a versatile place to gather sulfur and coal at the same time, this is one of the best options. It’s no wonder the developers meticulously reworked this biome in version 1.0, adding more resource nodes.

Mossanda Forest (283, -103) — Emerald Stream

East of the Mossanda Forest node, there’s a clearing where Mossanda herself sometimes wanders. But the main attraction here isn’t the clearing itself, but the proximity of sulfur, stone, and pure quartz—all three resources are close together, saving time on flights. The area is flat, easy to build, and the surrounding forest provides a large supply of wood. The only downside is that raids can come from the north, so build a couple of walls and defensive paladins. Overall, this is a great base for the mid-game if you don’t want to hunt for each resource individually.

Universal base for ore, sulfur, and quartz (290, -100)

This isn’t a separate location, but rather a clarification: if you’ve already chosen Mossanda Forest, you can build your base directly at coordinates (290, -100)—all three nodes are within the paladin’s radius. This way, you’ll have a single base that covers three key resources at once. This is convenient, especially considering that these materials are still needed in the late game, meaning the base won’t become obsolete.

Endgame Bases in Palworld 1.0: Farming Oil, Hexolite, and Soralite

This is where real adult life begins. You need crude oil for plastic and fuel, as well as hexolite and soralite—new ores introduced in Update 1.0. Without them, you won’t be able to craft top-end weapons and armor. We’ve selected four locations that cover all endgame needs.

Sunny Island (398, -465)

An island south of Swamp Island. Yes, there’s an oil rig floating nearby, but the island itself is a true paradise. There are several crude oil nodes, a flat surface, beautiful views, and most importantly, raids are practically inaccessible because it’s an island. You can build freely without fear of enemies destroying everything in five minutes. You can get here by flying or water pole, and once you activate the teleporter, you’ll arrive instantly. You can also fish and catch fishing palaeonts on the western side. What more could you want?

Oasis Island (900, 191)

Located off the eastern coast of the Dry Desert. It’s best to use an aquatic mount to get there—hiking through the desert will be brutally hot and cold. The island is as sheltered as Sunny Island, with several crude oil nodes. Fishing is also possible here, and the scenery is very picturesque. It’s a great alternative if you don’t want to be near an oil rig or prefer variety. Note that the island has the Affinity Peach, a rare fruit that increases palaeontology.

Quiet Lake (-1202, -1496) — Faebreak Island

The southern part of Faebreak Island, right next to the Quiet Lake teleporter. It’s cold here, so bring a fire-type palaeontologist or wear warm armor. Around the teleporter are several veins of hexolite, a new material needed to craft legendary weapons and armor. Build your base right on these veins, and you’ll be supplied with hexolite for the entire game. It’s not the easiest spot—high-level Pallbearers can attack, but if you already have good defenses, it’s an ideal endgame outpost.

Water Lily Gorge (-530, -1499) – Sunreach

Southwestern Sunreach Island, the Water Lily Gorge teleporter. Right next to this point are deposits of soralite ore—the second new endgame resource. If you need soralite, build your base here and you won’t have to run all over the map. The area is flat, although the terrain is a bit hilly, but this can be easily remedied with foundations. You can get here from mid-level if you have a fast flyer, but it’s best not to venture there without the protection of high-level Pallbearers. Activate the teleporter immediately to avoid having to repeat the journey if you die.

Summary Table of All Base Building Locations in Palworld 1.0

To make your choice easier, we’ve compiled all eight locations into a single table based on four criteria: resources, raid safety, evenness, and proximity to the teleporter. Stars indicate the stage of the game: early, mid, late.

Optimal Number of Bases in Palworld 1.0 and Development Strategy

The maximum number of bases in Palworld 1.0 is four, but in practice, three is usually enough to cover all needs. The main thing is not to place them all close together, otherwise you’ll lose access to different biomes. The optimal strategy, tested by us and the community, looks like this:

The “3 Bases” strategy: starting → resource → endgame

The first base is the starting base. Place it on the Hill of Beginnings or near the church. Here you level up to level 20-25, craft basic equipment, and breed your first paladins. This is your home, which you don’t need to move—keep it as your primary residence.

The second base is the resource base. When sulfur and quartz nodes open, move to the Mossanda Forest or the Summit of Mount Flopy. Here you mine coal, sulfur, and quartz on an industrial scale. You can automate mining with poleaxes, and then this base will function as a factory.

The third base is the endgame one. In the later stages, you build it on Sunny Island or Quiet Lake to extract oil and hexolite. Keep in mind that in version 1.0, the developers introduced a new feature: bases can now be networked using transport poleaxes, making it easier to transport resources between bases.

Can I build four bases and why?

A fourth base is a luxury. It can be used as an experimental site for breeding rare poleaxes or as an additional resource point if you don’t want to rebuild the old ones. However, experience shows that three bases fully cover all needs, while a fourth is often idle. If you do decide to build a fourth, place it on Oasis Island—it has oil and peaches, and it won’t interfere with the others.

Base Automation in Palworld 1.0: Best Pals and Technologies

A bare base without Pals is a pile of rubble. To make it work for you, you need to assemble the right team and unlock the right technologies. This is just as important as choosing a location, and many new players forget this, only to wonder why ore is accumulating slowly.

Palworld base automation Pals

Best Pals for Mining Ore, Coal, and Quartz

Kinglem, Kinglemania, and Lunarne are ideal for ore and stone mining—they have a high Mining skill. For coal and sulfur, Tokotoko and Kawano are also good at mining. If you need quartz, consider Ice Reptur—it’s a Frost type and works even more efficiently in the cold. All of these Pals can be found in their respective biomes, and they do a great job of automating basic resources while you go about your business.

Best Pallets for Oil and Hexolite

New Pallets have been added for crude oil in version 1.0, such as the Plasticsaurus and Neftenos, which extract oil from nodes without additional equipment. For hexolite and soralite, it’s best to use pallets with the “Refining” skill, such as Olken or Hexax. Please note that these materials require advanced technologies, such as the Drilling Rig and Refining Unit, which unlock at level 40+. Don’t delay researching them, as without them, you won’t be able to craft the top-tier weapons and armor available in version 1.0.

Five Major Mistakes When Choosing Base Location in Palworld 1.0

We’ve combed through numerous forums, spoken with experienced players, and identified the five most common mistakes made even by veterans. Read this list and avoid repeating the mistakes of others—you’ll save yourself dozens of hours.

Mistake 1: Choosing uneven terrain without checking

Many people build their base on the first hill they come across and then struggle to level the foundations. This wastes time and resources, and sometimes makes construction impossible. How to avoid: Before placing your pallet box, walk around the site and ensure the elevation difference is minimal. Ideally, use construction mode to estimate the layout of the walls.

Mistake 2: Ignoring raids and defenses

Some locations seem attractive, but they are in the path of enemy units. If you don’t want to be fighting off raids every 10 minutes, choose islands or locations with natural barriers. Sunny and Oasis Islands are ideal, but Golden Hills is less so. Remember that raids have become more aggressive in version 1.0, and if you’re thrown into a location where high-level pallets will spawn every hour, your base won’t survive.

Mistake 3: Forgetting Temperature Regulation

Deserts and icy biomes can quickly kill you without the proper armor or firebricks. If you build a base in Tranquil Lake and don’t have a firebrick, you’ll freeze before you even finish building your walls. Always check the climate and bring firebricks for heating or cooling. Or at least craft heat-resistant armor in advance.

Mistake 4: Placing all your bases close together

When you have 3-4 bases, it’s tempting to place them all in one region for easy management. But then you lose access to distant resources—for example, if you have all your bases in the starting zone, you won’t be able to reach hexolite without long flights. Optimally, spread your bases across different biomes: one in a green zone, one in a cold zone, one on an island, and one in the desert.

Mistake 5: Not activating teleporters in advance

The stupidest mistake is running to a location, placing a Palbox, and then, if you’re killed, having to walk back several kilometers because the teleporter isn’t activated. Always, always activate a fast travel point as soon as you’re close. This will save you hours, especially if you’re playing on a hardcore server.

Frequently Asked Questions About Base Building in Palworld 1.0

Question: Is it possible to move a base after it’s built?

Yes, you can destroy a palletbox and rebuild it in a new location, but all buildings will disappear, and resources will not be fully restored. It’s better to build a new base from scratch and keep the old one as a warehouse.

Question: What is the maximum number of pallets that can be placed on a base?

In version 1.0, the limit is 15 pallets per base, but this can increase as you upgrade your palletbox. Be careful not to exceed the limit, otherwise the pallets will stop working.

Question: How can I protect my base from raids automatically?

Place walls, towers, and summon pallets with defensive skills, such as Mossanda or Broncherry. You can also use traps. But the most reliable method is to choose an island location where raids simply cannot reach.

Question: Does it make sense to build a base near the World Tree?

No, until the developers add special resources there. In 1.0, the Tree is simply a beautiful landmark, and a base there will not provide any advantages. Perhaps later, with updates, the situation will change.
