Rumors about Spider-Man’s return to Fortnite have been circulating for weeks, but now there is concrete evidence beyond mere hints. Insider Blortzen dug into the current season’s code and discovered tags related to the “Sprite Net” mechanic—signaling the return of the legendary web-shooters, albeit in sprite form this time. If the leak is accurate, Spider-Man will arrive in the game on July 30 alongside patch v41.30. The date is no coincidence: the very next day, July 31, sees the theatrical release of *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*. A coincidence? Hardly—Epic Games loves timing major collaborations to coincide with movie premieres.

The key difference from Spider-Man’s previous appearance in Chapter 3 lies in the implementation. Back then, the web-shooters were a standalone Mythic item with 80 charges, allowing players to traverse the map faster than most vehicles. Now, that same mechanic is being built into the sprite system—a core feature of Season 7. Instead of occupying a dedicated inventory slot, the web-slinging ability—modeled after the original shooters—will become a power of the sprite itself. This isn’t just a new feature; it’s a calculated move. Players have missed that mechanic, and Epic is skillfully repackaging it to fit the current gameplay loop.

The Marvel collaboration isn’t the only surprise this summer. A DC summer event is tentatively scheduled for July 16, featuring beach-themed skins for Batman, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman, as well as a Batman sprite bundle. Two universes in a single game—something Fortnite has never seen before. While the crossover of Marvel and DC within a single season might seem like a tribute to the comics, Epic’s strategy is actually pragmatic: it is better to release two major crossovers in close succession—but not on the very same day—so that each gets its fair share of attention. That is precisely why the Spider-Man item is scheduled for the end of the month rather than the middle.

Players should get ready for the “Spider-Man Power Hour”—an event that will boost the odds of obtaining the item. Exact dates haven’t been revealed yet, but judging by the pattern of previous Power Hours, it will likely be a two-hour window during the weekend following the patch. If the mechanics come anywhere close to the original Web-Shooters from Chapter 3, the Spider-Man item is sure to become one of the season’s most coveted assets. Now, we just have to wait until July 30 to see firsthand whether Blortzen is relying on actual data or if this is just another rumor.
