Mortal Shell 2 was released on August 20, 2026. And it’s already driven more than one trophy hunter crazy. The game has 53 trophies on PlayStation (1 Platinum, 1 Gold, 10 Silver, and 41 Bronze). On Xbox and Steam, there are 52 achievements, none of which are Platinum. And yes, you won’t get it all in one playthrough—it’ll take at least two runs, maybe three.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Three trophies are truly missable: “In the Middle of Summer?”, “No, You Still Can’t Win,” and “Perfect Parrying Peter.” The first two are unlocked during the prologue, and if you don’t get them there, you won’t be able to return to New Game+. Not at all. So let’s agree right now: this guide isn’t just a list, it’s an action plan. Read, memorize, and act.

How many trophies, how long, and is it worth it?

Let’s start with the most important thing—so you understand what you’re getting into.

Platform Trophies Platinum
PlayStation 53 Yes
Xbox / Steam 52 No

Platinum’s difficulty is rated at 7-7.5 out of 10. The time to complete it is 35-45 hours. Some say 40-60, but that includes breaks and boss fights.

The main challenge isn’t the bosses or even the collectibles. The main challenge is the Posture system. The developers at Cold Symmetry removed the traditional stamina bar. Instead, they’ve adopted an aggressive combat rhythm where successful parries and attacks build up an enemy’s Posture bar, and when it’s full, you execute. Executions, by the way, grant invulnerability, and in the non-Shell mode, they’re a lifesaver. Without understanding this mechanic, Platinum will be hell.

Three Missables to Remember Before Starting

Mortal Shell 2 platinum trophy

Here they are, three achievements that can’t be obtained in New Game+.

“Midsummer?” — Attend the Festival

At the very beginning of the game, right after the tutorial, you’ll meet Marigold. She’ll offer to give you flowers. Accept. Refuse, and you’ll lose this trophy forever. No second chances.

“No, You Still Can’t Win” — Secret trophy in the prologue

The Tar Golem is a tutorial boss. Defeating it is part of the story. But if you reduce its health to a minimum without losing your Shell, you’ll get the trophy. Even if the Golem still kills you afterward, as per the script. The tricky part is that it’s unclear whether you need to reduce its HP to 1 or 0—sources differ, and there’s no official confirmation. It’s better to be safe: hit it until you see the bar is almost empty.

“Perfect Parrying Peter” – Parry all of the Nameless Prisoner’s head spins

This achievement is a separate quest that tests self-control. In the second phase of the fight with the Nameless Prisoner, he uses a 7-hit combo with head spins. You must parry every single hit. If you miss one, the achievement fails. You can save and reload before the fight, but it’s best to just practice until you get it perfect.

Step-by-Step Guide to Platinum

The strategy is simple, but it requires discipline.

Walkthrough 1 – Exploration and Collection

Your first run is a reconnaissance run. Don’t chase the story or try to complete everything at once. Focus on what you can collect in a single playthrough:

  • 8 Shells — each grants a trophy when unlocked
  • 8 primary weapons
  • 8 secondary weapons
  • 46 Beacons — clear them all
  • 196 Eggs
  • 73 Resin Stones (some sources say 75, but we’ll check in-game)
  • 11 Map Fragments

All of these, except for the Shell Memories, can be obtained in a single playthrough.

Playthrough 2 — Memories and Finishing Moves

And here’s where the fun begins. To see all the Shell Memories, you need to level up each of the 8 Shells to Link Level 4. There simply aren’t enough Glimpses—the currency for leveling up—to do them all in a single playthrough. So, you either go to New Game+ or start a new run from scratch. At least two playthroughs are required if you manage your resources wisely.
