The legendary rapier can be claimed at the start of the game, without progressing through the story. The coordinates are 500,167 (or 501,168—the numbers vary in different sources, but the chest is the same). Inside are the “Uncrowned Prince” rapier and the “Guardian Beast” figurehead. You’ll have to reach it underwater, but there are no sharks or other dangers—only bubbles that lead to the goal.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is more than just a remaster of the good old pirate sandbox. Ubisoft has added a whole layer of secrets to the game that weren’t in the original: unique outfits, sheet music for your crew, decorations for your estate, and—most importantly—three underwater chests as part of the global “Community Treasure Hunt” event. The developers planned to drop clues on Fridays, but players proved too quick. One of these chests—the second one—contains the Uncrowned Prince rapier. And it’s not just a legendary weapon with a fancy name. It’s a blade that can be obtained without even completing the first story mission. Simply swim to the right spot and dive in. We’ll explain how.

What are Community Chests in Black Flag Resynced?

They’re three caches scattered across the Caribbean Sea by Ubisoft. No map markers. No Eagle Vision hints—these chests don’t even glow in Eagle Vision mode. Just coordinates, just hardcore.

Black Flag community chest

The first chest was found quickly—it was near Dry Tortuga, coordinates 421.939 or 425.931 (depending on the source), containing 4,000 reals. It’s just a chest, nothing special.

But the second and third were a bit of a funny story.

Where are all the community chests?

Chest Region Coordinates Reward
First Dry-Tortuga 421,939 / 425,931 4,000 reais
Second Charlotte 500,167 / 501,168 “Uncrowned Prince” & “Guardian Beast” rapiers
Third Chinchorro 28,292 / 28,293 Explorer outfit + “Avelina” figurehead

Note the coordinates of the second chest. TheGamer and Nerdschalk give 500,167. VGC and Dexerto give 501,168. Playground.ru even says 497,165. These aren’t three different chests. They’re the same stash, which different sources have recorded with a slight error. In practice: look in the area west of Kingston, at the southern end of Long Bay. If you don’t find it the first time, swim a little further to the side. The chest is underwater, glowing white and surrounded by bubbles.

How to find the “Uncrowned Prince” rapier – step-by-step directions

It’s simple. Insanely simple.

Exact coordinates and directions

  1. Open the map and place a marker at coordinates 500,167 (or 501,168 – use whichever you prefer, it’s the same thing).
  2. The region is Charlotte, directly west of Kingston. It’s a small bay off the main island.
  3. Dock the Jack Dav – drop anchor right next to the rocks.
  4. Dive. Swim to the wall where two large rock outcrops hang over the water.
  5. Go around the coral. Look for bubbles – a steady current of air rising from the bottom.
  6. Follow the bubbles. They’ll lead you straight to the chest.

That’s it. No sharks, sea urchins, or jellyfish—the developers didn’t want to make things difficult for those just looking to collect their reward. The chest glows white, so it’s still visible in murky water.

What’s inside?

Two items:

  • Uncrowned Prince Rapiers—a legendary melee weapon.
  • Guardian Beast Figurehead—a legendary decoration for the Jack Dev.

Uncrowned Prince rapiers reward

You can equip the rapiers through the Inventory menu. If you want to keep the visual on a different sword, use the “Customize” option in the equipment menu. The figurehead can be changed at any harbormaster or directly in the captain’s cabin.

Is the Uncrowned Prince worth your time?

It depends on what stage of the game you’re at.

Rapier Stats

  • Base Attack: 25.
  • Maximum Finishing Hits: 3.
  • Unique Passive: Health Regeneration when breaking enemy defenses.

The damage is so-so for a legendary weapon. The “Guardian Prince” is mentioned in other guides as “above average,” but nothing more. Compare this to the officer’s rapiers from the Gran Inagua shop for 8,500 coins—their stats may be higher.

But there are circumstances.

What stage of the game is this weapon suitable for?

For the beginning, it’s ideal. You can swim to the chest without killing a single enemy or completing a single story mission. Considering that the passive heals you with each defense break, these rapiers make life significantly easier in the early game. Boarding “Men of War”? Capturing forts? Even an unleveled player feels more confident with this weapon.

For the mid- and late-game, it’s simply a decent option. If you don’t plan on constantly slicing through hordes of enemies, the passive isn’t all that necessary. But as a starting boost, definitely take it.

How did players find the chest before Ubisoft’s official announcement?

But that’s a story that would make the industry laugh.

Ubisoft had a great idea: three chests, three Fridays, three clues. The community solves puzzles together, the developers rejoice in their involvement, everyone is happy.

It didn’t work out.

Who is Holliday and what did he find?

A Reddit user named -Holliday was working on a standard naval contract. He dropped anchor in a random spot, saw bubbles, dove in out of pure curiosity, and found a third chest. Inside was the Explorer Outfit, one of the most coveted outfits from the original Black Flag, which many thought was cut from Resynced.

“I was paralyzed with delight for a second,” Holliday wrote on Reddit.

Ubisoft’s reaction? “You’re too good,” the developers replied. “We were going to give a hint on Friday, but your treasure hunting skills are impressive. Hats off.”

The second chest with rapiers was found by another player, NinePathompuZ. He also stumbled upon the cache by accident, while swimming underwater. Ultimately, Ubisoft effectively canceled the entire event before it even began. Because the players were faster than the developers.

Frequently Asked Questions about the “Uncrowned Prince” Rapier

Can I get the rapier early in the game without progressing through the story?

Yes. The coordinates are available from the moment you take control of the Jack Dev. There are no story requirements.

What are the exact coordinates—500,167 or 501,168?

Both options lead to the same chest. Different sources have recorded the coordinates with some uncertainty. Look in the area west of Kingston, near the southern part of Long Bay.

Is it worth the time if I’m already in the late game?

Probably not. The damage is modest for a legendary, and the passive is only useful in large-scale skirmishes. But if you’re a collector, go for it; the figurehead is also legendary.

Why isn’t the chest showing up on the map?

Because it’s a secret community stash. It’s not visible in Eagle Vision and doesn’t appear after syncing with viewpoints. Just the coordinates and your attention.

What else can you find in the community chests?

The first one contains 4,000 reals. The third one contains an explorer outfit and the “Aveline” figurehead. All three chests are underwater.
