LGD Gaming defeat Top Esports in two games

LGD Gaming produced a major LPL upset by defeating Top Esports 2-0. Top Esports entered with seven series wins from eight matches, while LGD had won once. That difference disappeared when the teams entered the server.

Heng received the award for both games and the complete series. LGD kept its jungle and lanes connected throughout the match. Tangyuan ended the second game with an Akali pentakill, completing a memorable result.

Top Esports entered as the higher-ranked team

Top Esports began the match near the top of Group Ascend. LGD occupied the lower part of the table after a difficult stage. The difference created a clear favourite before the first draft.

The match did not follow that expectation. LGD played with stronger coordination and protected its early gains. Top Esports found individual advantages without building a complete game victory around them.

  • LGD Gaming won the series 2-0.
  • Heng received both game awards and the series award.
  • Tangyuan recorded a pentakill during the second game.
  • The second game ended after 28 minutes.

Heng moved quickly between the lanes

Heng influenced both games through early movement and careful path selection. He arrived near threatened lanes before Top Esports completed several attacks. That presence reduced the number of easy targets available to Tian.

LGD also entered river areas with enough support around its jungler. Heng did not need to begin every fight alone. His teammates followed quickly and turned pressure into lasting map control.

LGD selected several reliable damage sources

LGD used Ambessa, Lee Sin, Locke, Ashe and Lulu among its initial selections. Top Esports answered with Rumble, Xin Zhao, Orianna, Ezreal and Seraphine.

Both sides had control and reliable ranged damage.

LGD executed its composition more effectively once players grouped. Ashe helped identify and begin favourable fights, while Lulu protected the main attacker. Top Esports could not separate those roles often enough.

Tangyuan completed the second win

Tangyuan played Akali in the second game and found the final decisive attack. He removed five opposing champions during one sequence and recorded a pentakill. The play ended the remaining resistance from Top Esports.

Tangyuan eliminated all five opposing champions during the decisive sequence. His Akali completed the fight after LGD had already built firm map control.

The second game lasted twenty-eight minutes

LGD finished the second game in twenty-eight minutes. Top Esports could not extend the game beyond that point. Each LGD victory removed another defensive structure and opened access to the base. Top Esports changed several champions after the opening loss. The revised draft still failed to slow Heng’s movement. LGD reached the final attack before its opponent could build a stable late-game position. One player collected all three awards.

Heng received the individual award after each game and then took the series honour. That sweep reflected his influence throughout the match. He linked LGD’s lanes and supported every major conversion. Awards do not replace the contributions of four teammates. Burdol, Tangyuan, Shaoye and Crisp completed the plays created around the jungle. Their quick responses made Heng’s movement valuable instead of isolated.

Top Esports remained qualified for the next stage despite the defeat. LGD gained an important result for its own playoff route. Heng’s three awards and Tangyuan’s pentakill supplied the clearest details from the upset.

LGD completed the match without a deciding game

LGD entered with one series win against seven for Top Esports, creating the largest contrast in this set of results. The lower-ranked side still won both completed games. Heng received every available player award, while Tangyuan supplied the final pentakill that closed the second map after twenty-eight minutes. Top Esports kept its existing playoff qualification despite the loss. The 2-0 result changed the current group record but did not erase earlier victories. LGD improved its own position by winning both completed games. The difference between the earlier records made this result an upset. Tangyuan completed the final team fight. Tangyuan recorded five champion eliminations during one sequence in the second game. His Akali completed the final fight after LGD established the winning position. The play secured the 2-0 series result.

Heng received three awards during LGD’s unexpected 2-0 victory. Heng supported both lanes and helped secure neutral monsters. Tangyuan recorded the final multi-kill during LGD’s second victory. LGD entered with the weaker group record and still won both games. The second victory ended with Tangyuan’s five-kill team fight.
