The Story of Skarner
Guardian of a Nation That Doesn’t Want Watching
Skarner is an ancient, colossal brackern who holds a founding seat among the Yun Tal, the ruling caste of Ixtal. His job is protection, not conquest: he keeps watch over his nation’s safety from a chamber beneath Ixaocan, where vibrations traveling through the earth itself tell him when something is approaching before anyone else could know.
Isolation Under Pressure
That vigilance has hardened into something closer to obsession. As more of his fellow Yun Tal begin to question Ixtal’s policy of shutting itself off from the rest of Runeterra, Skarner’s paranoia only deepens, and he has shown he will do whatever it takes to keep Ixtal sealed away and its people safe — regardless of the cost to anyone outside that decision.
His abilities are built entirely around detection and control at close range. Threads of Vibration ties his other abilities together, stacking a mark on enemies that eventually detonates for heavy damage. Shattered Earth pulls a boulder from the ground to empower his attacks or hurl as a projectile, Seismic Bastion shields him while sending out a slowing shockwave, and Ixtal’s Impact lets him charge straight through terrain to slam a target into the nearest wall. Impale, his ultimate, suppresses an enemy champion outright and drags them wherever he moves — a fitting capstone for a guardian whose answer to any threat is to seize it and refuse to let go. Elsewhere in Runeterra, old powers are stirring again beneath the sands of Shurima — though Skarner’s own loyalty has never wavered from Ixtal’s isolationist heart. Classed as a Tank-Fighter built for the top lane, Skarner draws on Mana rather than the more exotic resources some other jungle-capable bruisers use, a detail that fits a guardian more interested in holding ground than in flashy tricks.
