Wuju Style converts part of Yi’s output into true damage, so Zaahen’s 121 armor at level 18 does not fully cover him. Yi’s own defensive numbers are the weaker set, though: 33 armor at level 1 and 109.5 at 18 against 36 and 121, with 2,425 maximum health to Zaahen’s 2,578. Meditate restores health and reduces incoming damage, but it is a channel, and Dreaded Return drags a target out of position mid-cast. Alpha Strike makes Yi briefly untargetable as he crosses the battlefield, which is his real answer to Aureate Rush; timing it correctly is the skill the pairing rewards, and he sits at difficulty 4 against Zaahen’s 2. Both spend mana, and Yi’s 65 attack damage at level 1 edges Zaahen’s 63, so the first few levels are the window in which he is genuinely ahead rather than merely faster.
