Master Yi vs Sett Counter Pick

Grit decides this one. Sett stores the damage he takes and spends it as a shield plus a Haymaker that deals true damage at its center, so punishing him through a long duel makes his next swing bigger. Master Yi sits at 41.2% over 209 top games on patch 16.13.1.

Yi’s damage profile is built for exactly the fights Sett is built to absorb: Double Strike on a repeating count, Wuju Style adding true damage, Highlander refreshing on takedowns. Sett starts with 670 health against 640 and finishes at 2,608 against 2,425, with Pit Grit adding health regeneration on top. Facebreaker pulls and stuns, The Show Stopper carries a champion out of position entirely, and neither requires a skillshot chain first.

Two details work in Yi’s favor and are not enough. Sett’s 28 base magic resistance is the softer of his two defenses, though Yi deals physical and true damage rather than magic; and 175 attack range against 125 keeps Yi just outside the opening of Knuckle Down.

Sett runs on Grit rather than mana, so there is no empty resource bar to play around either. Difficulty reads 2 for Sett and 4 for Yi, and a losing matchup against a champion with the lower skill floor usually means the deficit is structural rather than a question of practice.
