WoW 12.0.7 “Revelations”: no repairs, double XP and new raid — full breakdown - Image 1

Blizzard finally released the final patch notes for World of Warcraft’s WoW 12.0.7 “Revelations” update, adding a substantial batch of changes on June 16th. While the marketing team is busy selling us new zones and raids, the real revolution is hidden in the systemic changes. Weapons and armor no longer break from damage in combat. Not at all.

The End of Repair and Turbo Leveling in WoW 12.0.7

The developers have silently killed one of the game’s oldest mechanics: equipment wear from hits and blocks. Shield tanks and melee units can breathe a sigh of relief, as astronomical repair bills are a thing of the past. The second major change hits alts’ leveling. Experience rewards for Nether Strikes and Nether Invasions have been doubled. Furthermore, experience is now awarded for almost every intermediate stage of these events. Leveling up to endgame has become indecently fast.

Midnight expansion content: Sporefall raid and runes

The patch’s storyline rests on three pillars. Through an unstable portal in the Netherstorm (its exit point changes weekly), players will set out to clear the worlds of Nighthal and Val of Hal’hadar ethereal leaders and the remnants of the Legion.

A new single-boss raid, Sporefall, opens in Harandar. We’ll be fighting the mushroom giant Rothmir, who drops the unique mount, Glowing Sporewing, and gear starting at ilvl 259.

For min-maxing enthusiasts, the Omnium Folio system has been introduced. The gist is simple: perform wikis, level runes, and receive permanent buffs. It sounds like another mandatory chore, but in the realities of the Midnight expansion, it’s inevitable.

Hardcore Rituals and House Upgrades

For those who find the basic content insufficient, Ritual Sites have been updated to a 6th difficulty level. The requirements are strict: an item level of 274 and the ability to choose six challenge modifiers. The reward for a successful run is ten Heroic and five Mythic Dawning Crests. (Yes, those are the ones).

Plot-building fans also got their fill. Street lighting has been enabled in the House system, and the decoration cap has been expanded. Tier 7 lots can now hold up to 350 objects.

Important Events and Balance Nerfs

The activity calendar is extremely busy.

  • The Darkspear Dash micro-festival kicks off on June 27th: a mass run from the Echo Isles to Silvermoon City.
  • From June 30th to August 11th, there will be extensive Timewalking through Dragonflight dungeons, where the weekly Quel’Thalas chest has been increased to item level 259–276.
  • The Zul’jan storyline begins on July 7th.

On the balance front, Blizzard has significantly tweaked the Mythic Midnight Falls mode: damage from mechanics has been reduced, and cast timers have been increased. In the Solo Shuffle and Blitz PvP modes, elite titles (for example, Galactic Legend) are now awarded strictly to the top 8 players in each specialization. This elegantly solves the problem of dead specs.

One question remains. Players remember well how the previous patch, 12.0.5, was so broken that the community seriously berated Blizzard’s QA department. Will Revelations be able to launch without critical bugs? We’ll find out at release.
