In GTA 6, Lucia and Jason’s arsenal isn’t just a collection of guns; it’s key to how they’ll make their mark on Vice City. From classic shotguns to submachine guns and revolvers, we’ve already seen a good dozen weapons in the extended trailer and trailers released in August 2026. This information is, of course, preliminary: the November release is still a couple of months away, and the final list may change slightly. But what’s already been captured gives a clear idea of what they’ll be wielding on the city streets.

What weapons have been confirmed in the GTA 6 trailers

Judging by the footage, the developers haven’t reinvented the wheel, but have expanded the familiar selection. The trailers feature:

  • The Molotov cocktail – a classic for arson and chaos.
  • The Moreland 850 shotgun is powerful, short-barreled, and ideal for close-quarters combat.
  • The Duke 556 assault rifle is a reliable workhorse for mid-range firefights.
  • The stun gun is apparently for non-lethal takedowns (or torture, who knows).
  • The Uzi submachine gun is a quick-fire weapon for causing panic in tight spaces.
  • The baseball bat and hammer are for those who like to get up close and personal.
  • Assault rifles, pistols (with silencers and flashlights), shotguns, submachine guns, melee weapons, and throwables are also mentioned in general terms, divided into separate categories.
  • The Hawk and Little Morgan revolvers are also worth mentioning—they’re only included in the Ultimate Edition, so owners of the base version will be missing out on these toys unless they find them elsewhere in the world.

For now, the primary legal retail outlet is Ammu-Nation, but given the dynamic of the cutscene, where characters pick up weapons directly during firefights, there will be other ways to acquire weapons. Perhaps the black market or enemy corpses will become as popular a source as store displays.

How does the weapon selection wheel and slots work

The interface remains true to the series’ traditions, but has been slightly refined. The wheel is divided into two screens: one for weapons and one for items. In combat mode, you switch between eight slots: the top one appears to be reserved for pistols, the right one for a spare weapon, the bottom one could hold tools like binoculars, and the left one for throwables like a Molotov cocktail. Two additional icons have been added to the lower left corner: one is a vial of medicine for restoring health, and the other is likely an adrenaline booster that temporarily increases stamina. It’s a small thing, but a nice touch—you won’t have to dig into your inventory in the heat of a shootout.

Weapon Carry Limits and Gun Storage in GTA 6

Forget the magical pocket from GTA 5 that could hold half of Ammu-Nation’s inventory—Rockstar Games is finally abandoning the classic system. Vice City adopts the gritty realism of Red Dead Redemption 2, so every run now requires proper planning. The developers are forcing players to think ahead: simply carrying every gun isn’t an option.

How many weapons can Jason and Lucia carry

In GTA 6, characters can carry a maximum of four weapons at a time: a pair of pistols and two long-barreled weapons like shotguns, automatic rifles, or submachine guns. Everything else must be left in the car or at the scene of the shootout.

The extended gameplay trailer from August 27th shows Lucia instantly swapping her rifle for a pistol right at the shooting range, without the usual selection wheel. This quick swap is built into the default combat system and operates independently of the eight basic slots.

A quick breakdown of the available storage points would be as follows:

  • On-Hand (2 pistols + 2 long guns): always on hand, but capacity is limited only for the current loadout.
  • Car Trunk: Your mobile warehouse on wheels, perfect for preparing for big jobs.
  • Weapon Locker: A stationary safe in the garage for storing rare or backup weapons.

Where to store your arsenal: Car Trunk and Garage

The entire inventory management system is tied to two key components. The first is the car trunk—it functions as a mobile stash while the car is nearby. Drive up to the stash point, pull out the heavy shotgun before the heist, collect the loot, and drive away.

The second node is the Weapon Locker, a stationary weapon storage unit. According to the official descriptions of pre-order garages like Shore Court and Paradise Garage, this space is designed strictly for weapons storage, not for selling stolen goods to dealers. It stores rare guns and anything else not needed right now.

Weapon Storage Locations

Storage Point Availability What to Keep
On person (2 long + 2 pistols) Always available in any location Active loadout for the current task
Car trunk While the vehicle is nearby Spare shotguns or rifles
Weapon locker In garage (Shore Court, Paradise Garage) Reserve and outdated arsenal

The Impact of Carrying Weapons on the Wanted Level

The new limit mechanic directly impacts the wanted level system. Police officers and ordinary passersby immediately react to what characters are holding. Openly carrying large-caliber weapons on the street immediately alarms NPCs, so characters hide their weapons outside of combat.

Shedding a tail after a successful job will be more difficult: now, changing cars or clothes is not enough. Shuffling guns from the trunk to the garage locker becomes a practical tool for covering your tracks.

Rockstar didn’t specifically announce the “two plus two” limit, but it’s clearly evident in trailers, pre-order materials, and the Extended Look. Interface details may be further refined before the November 19th release, but the developers clearly have no plans to abandon the concept itself.

Of course, all of this could still change by November. Rockstar is known for putting the finishing touches on the final months before release, so don’t be surprised if some items on the list are replaced or new ones added. But it’s already clear: GTA 6’s arsenal promises to be varied and flexible, and the choice between a quiet, silenced pistol and a thunderous shotgun will impact your playstyle more than ever. Just remember to keep your ammo stocked, as Vice City doesn’t forgive carelessness.
