Capcom has expanded the Onimusha: Way of the Sword demo. Players can explore a larger area, fight the Daidara boss and carry their demo save into the full game.

Daidara gives the demo a harder final test
Daidara uses broad attacks that cover more space than the moves of regular enemies. The fight tests movement, blocking and counter timing. The boss is reached through the expanded route. Players can practise against smaller enemies before entering the new encounter. The added area also shows more of Kyoto and the grounds around Rokudo Chinno-ji. Daidara changes the scale of the demo’s final encounter. His attacks cover broad areas and can catch a player who only steps a short distance away. The battle asks Musashi to read the start of each motion and choose between defence and a full retreat. Repeated attempts provide a practical way to learn those signals before release.
Break Issen rewards a successful defensive read. It follows precise timing rather than a long automatic sequence. The move therefore connects the game’s defence and offence: a player first recognizes the attack, then turns that moment into damage. The demonstration uses the technique to show why watching an enemy is as important as watching Musashi. Expanding the demo shortly before release serves two groups. New players receive a larger first look, while returning players gain a boss that was not part of their earlier run. Both can test whether the parry and movement systems suit them.

The update is already available, so the Daidara encounter can be played before the 4 September launch.
The new trailer shows Oni Awakening
Capcom’s sixth trailer presents Oni Awakening and more of Musashi’s combat. It also highlights Break Issen, a powerful response that follows a successful defensive read. The PlayStation 5 version uses haptic feedback during attacks and other actions. These effects support the combat, but the timing rules remain visible through enemy movement and sound. The expanded route is important because the boss is not presented as an isolated menu challenge. Players move through more of Kyoto and the Rokudo Chinno-ji grounds before reaching him. Smaller encounters give time to test timing, healing and movement. The added path also places the large enemy within the game’s location and story.
PlayStation 5 haptics add physical feedback to attacks and other actions. They do not replace the visual and audio signals that communicate danger. Players can still follow enemy movement and impact sounds when learning the fight. The controller response provides another layer for those who use the feature. The full release remains a separate product for PlayStation 5. The demo does not reveal the entire Kyoto route, every enemy or the complete growth system. Its confirmed purpose is narrower: introduce Musashi’s combat, add a demanding boss and preserve a small reward for players who continue into the finished game.
Demo progress unlocks a small reward
A demo save unlocks the Kubi Akari Charm in the full game and gives Musashi an early statistic bonus. The reward does not transfer the complete demo route as a finished campaign chapter. Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches for PlayStation 5 on 4 September. The expanded demo is available now. Oni Awakening gives the trailer another combat focus.

The state changes Musashi’s capabilities for a limited period and is presented as more than a visual effect. Players still need to decide when to use its power. Activating it without a useful target would waste part of the opportunity created by the system.
The Kubi Akari Charm is tied to the presence of a demo save. Capcom also grants an early statistic bonus when that save is recognized by the full game. These are starting rewards rather than a transfer of every completed encounter. The main campaign will still control story progress after launch. Capcom’s timing places the update close to the finished game’s release without turning it into a launch patch. The demo remains a free sample with its own endpoint. Players can repeat Daidara and the expanded route as often as the client allows, while the full story and later progression remain reserved for the retail version.
