Three years of silence, two trailers — and finally something concrete. Rockstar Games has confirmed the date: Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders go live on June 25 through digital storefronts and select retail partners. Alongside the announcement, the studio dropped the official cover art for GTA VI — now available to download in high resolution directly from Rockstar’s website.

But the question everyone actually wants answered — how much will it cost — still has no official reply. Take-Two says pricing, edition details, and pre-order bonuses will be revealed closer to the 25th. Which means we’re talking days, not weeks.

Where and When to Pre-Order GTA VI

The official pre-order window opens June 25, 2026. Here’s where you’ll be able to buy it:

  • PlayStation Store (PS5);
  • Microsoft Store (Xbox Series X|S);
  • Select retail partners — both digital and physical copies.

There’s no PC version at launch. Rockstar has a long-standing pattern of releasing PC ports well after the console debut — GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both arrived on PC roughly 1–2 years later. Don’t expect GTA VI to break that tradition anytime soon.

GTA 6 Price and Editions: What Leaks and Insiders Are Saying

No official price yet — but the rumor mill has been running hot. An insider who previously nailed the pre-order date claims Rockstar is planning six editions at launch:

Edition What’s Known
Standard Base game
Deluxe + bonus in-game content
Collector’s Edition + physical collectibles
Special Edition Additional bonuses (details undisclosed)
PS5 Bundle Digital code + PS5 console
PS5 Pro Bundle Digital code + PS5 Pro console

According to the same source, base editions will run between $60 and $80. Italian retailer Showgame jumped the gun in May and listed GTA VI for PS5 and Xbox Series X at €69.90 — surprisingly cheaper than the current AAA standard of €79.99.

Analysts are split. Most expect $70 for the standard version, but premium editions could push toward $80–$100. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has been characteristically vague, stating the company “delivers value rather than setting a price” — which tells you everything and nothing at the same time.

Why GTA VI’s Price Tag Matters Way Beyond One Game

GTA VI is not just another big release. It’s the first mainline entry in the series in 13 years, the first with a female protagonist (Lucia from Leonida), and by most estimates, the most expensive game ever made in terms of production budget. If Rockstar prices it above the $70 standard, every other major publisher will treat that as a green light to do the same. Bank of America already publicly urged Take-Two not to hold back at $70.

Put simply: whatever Rockstar announces on June 25 won’t just determine what you pay for GTA VI — it could set the price floor for AAA games for years to come.

GTA 6 Release Date and Platforms

November 19, 2026 — PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. CEO Zelnick has confirmed there will be no further delays. The full marketing push kicks off this summer, meaning edition reveals, trailers, and pre-order details will start rolling out in rapid succession through July.

Quick facts:

  • Pre-order opens: June 25
  • Price announcement: before end of June
  • Release date: November 19, 2026
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S
  • PC version: no date confirmed yet

The next few days are the ones to watch. Once pre-orders go live, you’ll know exactly what editions exist, what’s in them, and whether it’s worth buying now or waiting for a sale. Given that GTA V is still selling in huge numbers 13 years after launch — there’s no shame in taking your time with GTA VI either.
