In Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 (aka Override), almost everything you’ve been saving up all season is reset: Portable Extractors, Lucky Locators, Sprite Locators, Extraction Point Boosters, Sprite Dust, and even Sprite Mastery. The deadline is maintenance on August 20th at 4:00 AM New York City. The only thing you’ll keep are the sprites you’ve already collected, which will be moved to the Sprite Garden. So you have a couple of days to put your resources to good use.

What exactly is reset in Fortnite Override?

Fortnite Override Gizmos reset

All gadgets (Gizmos) you used in Season 3 are reset. These are:

  • Portable Extractors – the best way to quietly extract a sprite without having to run to an extraction point;
  • Lucky Locators – you unlock one daily and are also worth spending;
  • Sprite Locators – they helped you find rare creatures on the map;
  • Extraction Site Boosters speed up the summoning process.

Furthermore, Sprite Dust and Sprite Mastery will be reset. All Season 3 sprites will simply be removed from the battle royale—they will disappear as a class, though your copies will remain in your collection. The season’s new addition—new sprites like Sonic and Tails—will replace the old ones, but that’s another story.

When is the last day and why are the dates getting mixed up?

Maintenance starts on Thursday, August 20th, at 11:00 AM Moscow time (4:00 AM ET). Some sources say August 19th—and that’s not a mistake: the season ends on the evening of the 19th according to Pacific Time, and actual access to the game will disappear with the start of the downtime. So, use Moscow time as a guide—you have until Thursday morning.

Which gadgets will return and which won’t?

Portable Extractors will definitely return—the developers have confirmed this. Lucky Locators, Sprite Locators, and Boosters are in question. They may not return, or they may be replaced with something new. So don’t count on them surviving the reset—they’ll have to be reset anyway, so it’s best to use them now.

What to do two days before the reset: a simple strategy?

You have a short run left—here’s a plan to make sure you don’t miss out:

  1. Spend all your Portable Extractors on the rarest sprites that aren’t already in your collection. They activate anywhere in 5 seconds—perfect for pinpoint mining.
  2. Use Lucky Locators last—they guarantee a specific sprite, so cover the most difficult spots with them.
  3. Sprite Dust can be used for daily quests or to purchase missing extractors—but remember, it will expire after the downtime.
  4. If you have any Sprite Locators left, don’t delay—they will also be reset.

By the way, the sprites you’ve already extracted will remain in your Sprite Garden—a clue for those worried about losing their collection. They can be viewed and even used as backing bling if you’ve leveled them up to level 5.

What else is important to know before Override?

  • Sprite Mastery will be reset—so if you were planning to level up any skills, now’s your last chance.
  • All Season 3 sprites will disappear from matches, but your copies will remain.
  • With the release of Override, new sprites will appear—Sonic, Tails, and possibly other crossover characters.

Don’t wait until the last minute—servers may restart early. Make the most of what you already have, and welcome Season 4 with confidence.
