Dota 2 Patch 7.41b: Complete Breakdown of Hero, Item, and Neutral Creep Changes - Image 1
2 months ago vpesports

Valve has released the second patch for Dota 2, 7.41b. No new heroes, no events, just balance. And there are quite a few changes.

The developers have once again taken up the meta after the recent major updates 7.41 and 7.41a. The new update hits several items, reworks the talents of some heroes, and even touches on neutral creeps. The editorial team has compiled everything that has changed, from the Terrorizer to small details like Consecrated Wraps charges.

What has been done to general mechanics and creeps?

The Terrorizer has received a significant nerf: reflected damage per minute is now increased by 1.5%, up from 2%. It’s not dramatic, but it will make the game a bit easier in the later minutes.

However, ancient creeps—specifically, Frost Golem—have become less effective. His Time Warp aura now reduces ability cooldowns by a smaller amount: 8/9/10/11% instead of the previous 10/11/12/14%. For teams that like to farm Ancients for control, this is noticeable.

Items under the knife — and under the buff

Black King Bar

A major change: Avatar is no longer stretched by buffs to effect duration. This means that no “increasers” will make the Black King Bar last longer. It’s exactly as stated — not a second longer.

Consecrated Wraps — here’s a whole list of changes:

  • Bonus to all stats decreased from 6 to 5.
  • Hallowed is now displayed as item charges (not as the number of charges in the UI). Creating a barrier consumes all charges.
  • No cooldown reductions affect charge regeneration.
  • Three starting charges are granted upon purchase or creation. However, the initial movement speed bonus has been removed — these three charges provide no effect.
  • Recharge time increased from 3 to 4 seconds.

Gleipnir

Eternal Chains now has a 325 radius instead of 275. And with the item’s spell radius bonus, it’s effectively 400. Sticking will be easier.

Heaven’s Halberd

Health regen increased from 6 to 6.5—a small but welcome change.

Helm of the Overlord

Dominate’s cooldown has been increased from 45 to 40 seconds, and the minimum health of the dominated creep has been increased from 1800 to 1900. Supports with Helm will be pleased.

Holy Locket

Energy Charge healing has been increased by 15% (from 10%), but Holy Blessing’s outgoing healing has been reduced from 15% to 10%. This means the support heals slightly worse, but the healing itself is more effective—a strange tradeoff. Mage Slayer

Health regen reduced from 6 to 5.5, magic resistance from 20% to 18%. Nerf for those who used it against mages.

Sange, Abyssal Blade, S&Y, Kaya & Sange

All of these items have had their health regeneration bonus reduced. Sange was 16% and is now 12%, Abyssal Blade 20% → 16%, and both dual builds are also 20% → 16%. Life has become tougher.

Neutral Items: Where Buffed and Nerfed

Jidi Pollen Bag – Pollinate’s radius increased from 700 to 900. A good buff for early support.

Conjurer’s Catalyst

Added a hidden 0.1-second cooldown (to prevent spamming?), damage threshold increased from 100 to 200, and damage from heroes increased from 40 to 80, and from creeps from 15 to 30.

Enchanter’s Bauble

Initial spell buff decreased from 15% to 10%.

Idol of Scree’Auk – False Flight duration increased from 5 to 6.5 seconds.

Metamorphic Mandible – Pupate movement speed bonus increased from 15% to 20%. Rattlecage — Projectile damage reduced from 110 to 90.

Book of the Dead — True Sight removed from Demon Warriors. They will no longer see invisibility.

Minotaur Horn — Lesser Avatar magic resistance increased from 50% to 60%.

Riftshadow Prism — Refract cooldown reduced from 30 to 27 seconds.

Enchantment Changes

Crude — Health regeneration bonus now 9/12/15% instead of 10/15/20%. Nerfs to all three tiers.

Heroes: Major Talent Changes

Valve didn’t just tweak the numbers; they swapped talents around.

Alchemist

Base agility decreased from 22 to 19. Talents at levels 10 and 15 have changed: now at level 10 they provide +1% damage reduction and slow from Corrosive Weaponry (previously at level 15), and at level 15 they provide +1 armor reduction from Acid Spray (previously at level 10). Confusing, but essentially this means earlier access to crowd control.

Ancient Apparition

Innate Bone Chill: Aghanim’s Scepter buff increased from 0.3 to 0.8 strength reduction.

Anti-Mage

Mana Break now burns more mana: 1.8/2.7/3.6/4.5% (was 1.6/2.4/3.2/4). However, at level 20, Blink’s range was reduced from 150 to 125.

Arc Warden

Many changes. At level 20, Magnetic Field’s cooldown was reduced from 5 to 4 seconds, and Spark Wraith’s damage bonus was replaced with a +30-second duration. At level 25, the duration was changed back to +240 damage, and Runic Infusion was reduced (1.5 → 1).

Batrider

Base armor -1, Firefly’s cooldown increased (48/42/36/30 from 45/40/35/30). At level 15, the slow from Sticky Napalm has been increased from 0.5% to 0.75%.

Beastmaster

Base attack speed is 90 (was 100). Wild Axes now last 10/11/12/13 seconds (previously 12 everywhere). Level 10 talents have been reduced: armor 5→4, bonus damage from Wild Axes 2%→1.5%.

Bloodseeker

Rupture now costs more mana: 125/175/225 (was 100/150/200). At level 25, the max speed bonus from Thirst is 15% instead of 18%.

Broodmother

Base agility 18→20, damage at level 1 47–53 (was 45–51). Chaos Knight

Phantasm has a longer cooldown (85/80/75 instead of 75 at all levels), but now always creates 3 illusions. However, their damage has decreased from 100% to 50/75/100% (depending on the ultimate’s level).

Chen

Holy Persuasion now provides more bonus damage: 5/10/15/20% (down from 6/12/18%).

Clinkz

Level 10 Talent: +1 second Strafe (down from 0.75).

Crystal Maiden

Crystal Clone cooldown is now 12 seconds (down from 10).

Dawnbreaker

Innate Break of Dawn: Maximum damage increase is now 8% + 1% per level (down from 10% + 1%). Death Prophet

Exorcism spirit damage slightly increased: 65/68/71 (was 64 overall).

Doom

Scorched Earth damage 20/30/40/50 (was 20/35/50/65). Doom damage 22/44/66 (was 25/45/65). Talents reshuffled: level 10 now simply grants +10% magic resistance (instead of Devour), level 15 now grants +1.5% damage based on Infernal Blade’s max health (instead of +66 damage), and level 20 now grants +66 damage (instead of +2.5% of max health).

Drow Ranger

Base agility 22→24, damage 51–58 (was 49–56). Marksmanship is now disabled by enemies from 300 range (down from 325). Glacier’s Ice Hill no longer prevents Marksmanship from being disabled. However, at level 25, Multishot gains +2 waves (down from +1).

Elder Titan

Innate Momentum: Armor increases faster with movement speed—5% + 0.5% per level (down from 3.6% + 0.4%).

Ember Spirit

Base damage decreased by 3 (now 52–56 at level 1). Sleight of Fist mana cost increased to 75 (down from 60/65/70/75—now 75 everywhere).

These aren’t all the changes, but the main meta changes are already clear. Supports will be hit harder by Holy Locket, carries will lose some of the regen from Sange-like items, and CK’s ultimate now works differently. Patch 7.41b is already on the servers—you can log in and test it out.
