College Football 27 received a game update on 3 September. EA improved several interactions between attacking players and defenders during forward passes. The update also added weekly news to two career modes and corrected problems in recruiting, schedules and Ultimate Team. All listed changes are available in the current version.

Offensive players create more separation after physical contact

The update changes situations in which an attacking player escapes physical contact but remains too close to the defender. EA increased the distance of some forward passes and corrected the movement used by skilled attacking players on zig routes. Attacking players can also accelerate more naturally after winning contact. A defender who moves in the correct direction can still stay close and challenge the pass. However, a defender who chooses the wrong side should now lose more ground. The change makes player ratings and positioning easier to understand because the result follows the decisions made by both players.

Zone settings now match the defensive play diagram

EA corrected several cases in which the defensive menu showed one instruction while players followed another after play began. Defenders assigned to short outside areas should now use the depth selected by the user. Changes made before the play should also appear correctly in the on-field diagram. Some individual instructions had disappeared when a defender received an additional pass-coverage assignment, and that error was fixed. Players can now compare the diagram with the actual movement and identify whether a problem came from their choice, the defender’s rating or the opponent’s attack.

Career modes now receive weekly stories based on results

The EA Sports Network is now available in Dynasty and Road to Glory. It publishes previews and summaries that react to the current schedule, important victories, rivalry defeats and individual performances. The feature does not change a score or provide extra recruiting points. Its purpose is to make the season easier to follow. A smaller college that defeats a highly ranked opponent should receive a different story from a favourite that wins an expected match. Players can judge the feature over several weeks and see whether the reports continue to reflect events in their own career.

The update corrects recruiting goals and player evaluations

Dynasty mode received fixes for playing-time grades, coach expectations, generated player numbers, protected opponents and schedules. A goal that asks the coach to sign a prospect with at least three stars can now count recruits with four or five stars. Expectations linked to a top-15 finish or a conference championship should also update correctly. Injured players should appear in the match report. These corrections are important in a career that lasts many seasons because an incorrect evaluation can affect the coach’s career status or a recruit’s interest. Players can continue an existing career and check the corrected screens after advancing one week.

Road to Glory adds 13 Legends templates

Road to Glory now includes 13 Legends templates inspired by players such as Julius Peppers, J.J. Watt, Sean Taylor, Jerome Bettis, Luke Kuechly, Tony Gonzalez and Arch Manning. Each template provides a starting playing style for a created athlete. It does not reproduce the real player’s career or guarantee the same results. EA also fixed health information, skill-point displays, messages about competition for starting positions and the presentation of rating increases. Existing players should check their ratings after installing the update, especially when the previous version showed the wrong player type or unclear progress information.

Ultimate Team menus and objectives receive fixes

Ultimate Team received fixes for skill points, player upgrades, EVO requirements, objective progress, auction filters and ranked points. The remaining time for EVO offers should be clearer, and several catalogue links should now open the correct page. These changes do not improve a team automatically. They give players more reliable information before they buy an item or change an upgrade path. Users should still check requirements and team chemistry before spending resources. The corrected menus should preserve selected filters and display the information needed for each decision more consistently.
