In Call of Duty: Warzone, the story will change radically, which will make even veterans sweat. Raven Software Studio has officially organized the announcement of Iron Gauntlet — it’s not just a new mode, but a whole evolution of competitive battle royale. The release is scheduled for February 5, 2026 as part of the Season 2 update, and it will be powerful.

Iron Gauntlet Testing and Rating changes
The developers decided to launch the new product in test mode — it is critically important for them to collect feedback and statistics in order to understand how organically the “Iron Glove” will fit into the ecosystem. During Iron Gauntlet’s activity, the rating revival will temporarily go offline. This was done on purpose, apparently, to bring all the communities together in one queue — this way the selection of players will become tougher, and the competition will simply be prohibitive. Interesting, isn’t it?
Gameplay mode features and Iron Gauntlet mechanics, but at maximum. We will play on a huge map, where Raven Software has tweaked the settings for a pure skill:
-
There will be more loot, but it will be more difficult to get it — in fact, the randomness is minimized.
-
The health of the fighters will be raised — now TTK (time to kill) will allow you to really show your shooting skills, and not just rat out the bushes.
-
Competition for survival — the publisher explicitly says that this is an important step in developing the competitive spirit of Warzone.
The prize pool of Warzone tournaments and the future of esports
The situation with global tournaments now looks ambiguous, to be honest. While Activision is actively promoting the Resurgence series with a prize pool of $1.2 million (approximately 884,711 pounds), fans of the “big stage” are sitting in the dark. There is zero news about the World Series of Warzone yet — no details about maps or qualifiers. Apparently, all forces are thrown at the three upcoming LAN tournaments for “Rebirth”.
Actually, the success of Iron Gauntlet will solve everything — if the mode goes in, it can become the main standard for the pro scene. It seems that the developers are looking for the perfect formula, maneuvering between fan mush and serious cyberattack. We’ll wait and see, but February 5th will definitely be a hot day for everyone who is used to winning in Verdansk and its followers. In addition, it is worth considering that such experiments with balance always cause controversy — and this is great for coverage.
