GFA Games has released a full roadmap for PIONER in 2026—and there’s plenty to do. The post-apocalyptic MMO launched into Early Access last December, immediately offering a unique setting, a vibrant world, and a substantial amount of content. Now, the developers have outlined their plans for all four quarters: in-game events, story updates, new weapons, and much more.

PIONER will continue to grow throughout 2026

GFA Games shared a comprehensive roadmap for PIONER in 2026 on social media, adding an important note:
Please note: this roadmap does not reflect updates and fixes focused on server optimization or improvements to network performance. These issues are our highest priority, and we are constantly working on them.
PIONER has indeed experienced performance issues since its Early Access launch. But that didn’t stop us from giving the game an 8 out of 10 in our review, which included the following assessment:
The best way to describe PIONER is “S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but MMO,” but the game goes far beyond that simple label. It’s a stunning and incredibly ambitious game from a studio passionate about serving the community, and if it successfully navigates Early Access, it could become a true gem in the world of post-apocalyptic fantasy.
Expecting results from GFA Games is challenging—the studio’s debut project has leaped into a genre where many have stumbled. And yet, the roadmap gives reason for optimism.
What’s coming to the game by quarter?
The first patch will be developed with community feedback in mind. Interface improvements and balancing of weak weapons are promised. Toward the middle of Q2, PIONER will receive new world events—anomalies and artifacts. This is where the game will begin to feel more like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. than ever before. During this period, enemies will be reworked and a new outpost zone will be added.
The third quarter will bring a fresh story chapter. It will introduce mercenaries in the world of PIONER and expand the arsenal with weapons and equipment. The “Rebirth” update will follow, featuring the “Blue Wave” events in the open world. Radioactive waves will change the environment. Legendary items, raid missions, special raid vendors, and improvements to PvP modes will also be added.
The fourth quarter kicks off with the “Abyss Resurrection” story arc. Like the mercenary update, players can expect new weapons and equipment. The “Expedition” update will close the year: fresh open-world maps, new mechanics, a reworked clan system, and the seasonal “Day of Nightmares” event.
It was also noted that further optimization and Steam Achievements are also in the works—they just weren’t included in the roadmap.
