CD Projekt RED has officially confirmed that the second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will launch in the fall of 2026, exclusively on Netflix. Trigger Studios is returning, with Kai Ikarashi (Kill la Kill) taking the director’s chair. The project boasts 10 episodes and a cast of entirely new characters. But the teaser trailer, shown at Anime Expo on July 3rd, is only the tip of the iceberg. Nearly simultaneously, the Apex Legends developers released a mysterious image featuring David’s silhouette against the moon, and data miners have already discovered Edgerunner-themed skins in the game’s code. These two events are inextricably linked—and we’ve broken them down.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2: Date, Trigger Studios, and New Characters
The events will unfold in Night City several years after the first season. The plot is a standalone story, but set in the same universe. The script is by Bartosz Sztybor (The Witcher 3) and Masahiko Otsuka (Death Note), and the soundtrack is by composer Tsuneo Imahori and features a track by Rico Nasty, who has already appeared in the promo video.
Who are Wick, Dee, Roman, and Talia?
The four new characters are at the center. We’ve compiled information from various sources into a table and resolved minor discrepancies (for example, Dee’s specialization was described as “cybertechnician” in some sources, “hacker-repairman” in others; we settled on the official description from the press release).
What’s known about the plot?
The creators promise a story “darker and more brutal” than the first season. The action will unfold against the backdrop of a struggle for control of a new type of neural implant. There are no connections to David or Lucy—this is a completely new storyline, as director Kai Ikarashi confirmed in an interview with GamesPress.
Apex Legends Collaboration: What the Teaser Showed and What Data Miners Found
Respawn Entertainment hasn’t made any official announcements, but the teaser posted on Apex Legends’ social media accounts speaks for itself: a moon is visible against a night sky, and within it, a recognizable silhouette with cyberware. Fans immediately recognized David Martinez.
Horizon and Alternator Skins: References to David and Skippy
Data miners from Pley.gg discovered unannounced skins in the game’s files: a Horizon outfit styled after David’s jacket, and an Alternator weapon skin pattern replicating Skippy’s iconic pistol from Cyberpunk 2077. While this is only a leak for now, it fits perfectly with the visual teaser.
When can we expect an official announcement?
Based on Respawn’s schedule, events are usually announced 2-3 weeks before launch. If the collaboration is indeed timed to coincide with the release of Edgerunners 2 (fall 2026), then the announcement can be expected in August or September. However, for now, these are our estimates, not a confirmed fact.
Two crossovers in a month: CD Projekt RED is ramping up marketing ahead of the premiere
Incidentally, this is already the second major Cyberpunk crossover in a short period of time – just in June, the game Wuthering Waves received an event featuring Lucy. Such a busy collaboration schedule is no coincidence. It seems CDPR is laying the groundwork for maximum hype around the second season, stimulating interest across multiple audiences.
We compared the dates and concluded that this is a deliberate strategy – to reach both mobile players and the Apex shooter audience, ensuring the maximum possible crowds gather in front of their screens for the series’ premiere.
