The Aura Sprite landed in Fortnite on June 25, and it’s already one of the most sought-after spirits this season. Players are grinding Sprite Chests, scanning vaults, and trading with squadmates – all for a shot at this Epic-rarity creature. But snagging one is only half the story. You also need to know exactly what it does in combat and, more crucially, how to get it out of the match without losing it to a third-party sniper. Let’s walk through every angle.

Where to find the Aura Sprite?

Unlike the Strike Sprite or the Boss Sprite, the Aura doesn’t camp at a fixed spot on the island. It’s a pure RNG drop from Sprite Chests – and those are scattered across the map. You’ll need to be methodical.

  • Plan a looting route – Sprite Chests appear in specific regions, so you can chart a path that hits as many as possible per match.
  • Hit vaults – these always contain Sprite Chests: Rare vaults give one, Epic vaults give three. No guesswork.
  • Trade with teammates – you can drop any Sprite for others to pick up. If a buddy already has the Aura, ask to swap.
  • Watch for the “Sprite Hunt” rift anomaly – during this event, buried Sprite Chests appear at marked spots, and they guarantee a special variant of the Aura. That’s your best shot at a unique skin.

Even with these tricks, expect to run a few matches before you see one. The Aura is a shy beast – patience pays off.

What the Aura Sprite does in battle?

For anyone who values extra mobility – especially in Zero Build mode – this Spirit is a godsend. When equipped, the Aura Sprite grants you Shockstone charges (up to three) every time you deal enough damage to opponents. Each charge lets you perform a double jump; with all three, you can chain three jumps in a row. That’s the kind of edge that wins close-range duels and helps you reposition in hectic endgames.

The damage required per charge scales with your Sprite’s level. You can only level it up by fighting – so staying aggressive pays off. Here’s the exact requirement per level:

Sprite Level Damage Needed for One Shockstone Charge
1 75
2 100
3 125
4 150
5 175

Higher levels demand more damage output, but the payoff is substantial – especially in Zero Build where every extra jump can save your skin or set up a surprise angle. Just remember: the only way to level up is by staying in the fight, so don’t shy away from trades.

Extraction methods: don’t lose your hard-earned loot

Snagging an Epic Aura is only step one. Until you secure it, that Sprite is a ticking time bomb – if you get eliminated, it’s gone forever (you can buy it back with Sprite Dust in the lobby, but that’s a costly hassle). The real trick is getting it safely out of the match. Extraction Sites are visible to every squad on the map, so dropping your prize there is risky. Here are the three available options, each with its own pros and cons.

Extraction Sites – the obvious but dangerous choice

These stationary pads summon a crab-case that you interact with to send the Sprite away. The case closes quickly, and the platform locks after use. The problem? Activation broadcasts your position to everyone nearby – you’re a sitting duck on an open platform. Fine for common Sprites, but for an Epic Aura? That’s a gamble.

Portable Extractor – the mobile alternative

Portable Extractor item

This gadget fits in your pickaxe slot and lets you bank a Sprite from anywhere on the map. No need to run to a fixed pad. However, activation requires you to stand still for 5 seconds while channeling – any damage cancels the process, and the extractor is consumed. Use it only inside solid cover – behind a wall, inside a build, or under a cliff – to avoid getting interrupted.

Where to get Portable Extractors

  • Sprite Dust Service terminals – located near extraction points, sell one per day for 2,000 Sprite Dust (reset at 9:00 AM ET).
  • Sprite Mastery track – level up your Sprites to rank 5 and bank them; the mastery bar rewards these devices periodically.
  • Daily quests – complete the “extract 10 Sprites” contract to earn one portable extractor reliably.

Specialised items like the Lucky Locator or Extraction Site Booster aren’t available yet – Epic Games plans to introduce them later in the season.

Victory Royale – the ultimate insurance

If your team secures the win, all your carried Sprites are automatically banked. No need to use any extractor. This is the safest route, but it obviously demands you survive to the final circle with the Aura in your inventory.

Which extraction strategy should you use?

For an Epic Aura, avoid public Extraction Sites in the early game – the player density is too high, and the risk of getting third-partied is enormous. Save your portable extractors for mid-to-late game when the lobby has thinned out, and always channel them from a hidden position. If your squad is confident in their endgame rotations, consider playing for the Victory Royale – that way you skip the extractor gamble altogether.

Ultimately, the Aura Sprite is a powerful tool for speed and agility, but its value is only realised if you can bring it home. Treat it like a high-stakes objective: hunt smart, fight hard, and extract even smarter. Good luck out there.
