In the game Neverness to Everness, you can easily get into trouble with the law — and this does not depend on your progress in the story. The search system lives its own life here. A carjacking, a smashed bus stop, an accidental blow to a passerby — everything goes into the piggy bank of violations. As soon as the level exceeds one star, the Hetereo police will send you to jail if you are caught again.

All Ways to Reset the Wanted Level in Neverness to Everness

The developers have laid out three working ways to get away from harassment:

  • Escape from the cops
  • Abnormal furniture (yes, furniture)
  • Crunchy cookies “Kind heart” with a mouse

The most obvious option is to simply get out of sight. As long as the policeman doesn’t see you and isn’t standing next to you, the search level will slowly drop. It’s more difficult on high stars: there are more pursuers, they are faster and smarter. But there is a life hack — climb onto the roofs. Patrolmen rarely go there, and the “noise” subsides in a couple of minutes.

The other two methods sound strange, but they work. There are objects with abnormal furniture scattered around the city — interacting with them instantly drops one or two stars. And if there is nothing at hand, a crunchy cookie “Kind Heart” with a mouse will help out. Yes, you heard right. You ate a cookie, and the police forgot that you just tore up a bus stop.

Hetereo Police Response Levels and Consequences

The police response is increasing gradually. First, there are a couple of officers who just run after you. Then patrol cars are connected. At the maximum level of the search, you will find a full-fledged combat operation with special forces and a very dangerous enemy in addition. The “Wanted” status is activated after the first star — from that moment on, you are in danger. And yes, even if you saved the world five minutes ago, the police don’t care. The law is the law.

Abnormal Furniture Peek-a-boo Alarm to Reset Wanted Status

It is enough to enter the room where this furniture is active, and the search level is reset instantly. The same thing works in your own apartment or house — you’ve crossed the threshold, and the police are no longer looking for you. The good news is that the “Peek-a-boo Alarm” is considered standard abnormal furniture, it is found in every player’s home. So you won’t have to spend any Backgrounds on it.

But there is one thing. Evaluators (character class) with the “Wanted” status cannot move quickly. That is, if you have one star or more, the only options are to either get home on your own, or first knock down the level below one star with a classic escape. The “Peek-a-boo alarm” does not work remotely.

Kind Heart Cookies with Mouse as a Search Reset Method

Where to find and how to use cookies at the station

Where to get it? At the police station. If you return lost items or help resolve urban violations, you receive cookies. If you eat one piece, the search level drops by about one star. Simple math.

And that’s not all. Cookies act as the local currency. Approach the police officers in the police stations, select the dialog “I have an extra crunchy cookie “Kind heart” with a mouse” — and you can buy useful items with it. It’s a kind of legal bribe.

Effective Tactics for Quickly Escaping the Chase in NTE

For some reason, many people believe that a quick jump through a teleporter into a neighboring area instantly turns off the police. Forget it. Changing the location won’t save you from the cops (it’s because of this annoying misconception that newbies regularly make arrests). A full reset is activated only when physically crossing the threshold of the apartment where the “abnormal furniture” is located. In total, the developers have rolled out three basic rescue mechanics. It’s pointless to look for an ultimatum button among them — the context of the current situation decides here.

Wanted Level Reduction Methods

Method Reduction Speed Works at ★★+ Restrictions Cost
Escape / Hiding on Roof Slow — 2-4 min per ★ Requires zone out of police LoS; at ★★★+ patrols block exits Free
“Peek-a-boo” (House / Apartment) Instant X at ★1+ (no teleport) Appraiser under pursuit cannot teleport — on foot only Free
“Kind Heart” Mouse Cookie Instant — -1 ★ per piece Finite resource; issued at station for returning items Stock dependent

In practice, the most reliable combination turned out to be a breakaway, a cookie, a house. It works flawlessly. At first, you simply run away from the patrols, eating one or two cookies on the go – this drops the level below the first star. The block on fast travel immediately subsides. Teleport to the base, and then the “Peek-a-boo Alert” automatically resets the rest of the search. Everything is simple. If there are no resources at hand and the house is far away, look for any stairs. On levels ★1–★2, patrol AI are physically unable to climb onto roofs, it’s easy to sit there. At ★3, the police will still come after you, but they do it so painfully slowly that there will definitely be enough time to take a break and plan a retreat.
