About Unicorns of Love
Unicorns of Love, widely recognised by the abbreviation UOL, was one of the most colourful and beloved brands in European League of Legends. Although founded with German roots, this particular incarnation of the organisation competed in the LCL, the professional league serving the Commonwealth of Independent States region. The team is now listed as disbanded, but its name carries a legacy that resonated far beyond the borders of any single circuit.
An Icon Reinvented in the CIS
Unicorns of Love first rose to prominence in Western Europe, celebrated for an unorthodox, aggressive style of play and an irreverent identity that made it a fan favourite. When the organisation established a presence in the LCL, it brought that same disruptive energy to the CIS scene, quickly becoming a dominant regional force and a recurring qualifier for international events, where it frequently punched above expectations.
The Roster
The recorded lineup for this squad featured xlolzorx, NoNholy, Invi and Sheepy, a group that carried the Unicorns banner through its CIS campaigns. Rosters bearing the UOL name were known for embracing creative champion picks and a willingness to gamble on unconventional strategies, a philosophy that endeared the team to spectators even when results varied.
A Region in Transition
The LCL functioned as the top-tier competition for the CIS, offering a pathway to the international stage for the region’s best. Geopolitical and structural shifts eventually reshaped competitive League of Legends across the CIS, and Unicorns of Love’s chapter there came to an end. As a disbanded team, UOL survives in memory as a symbol of flair and fearless play, a reminder that personality and identity can leave as lasting a mark on esports as silverware alone.
