Nilah vs Xayah Counter Pick

Feathers are the whole story. Clean Cuts drops a Feather whenever Xayah attacks after using an ability, and Bladecaller recalls all of them at once for damage and a root. Being rooted is the worst possible status for a champion who must spend Slipstream to reach 225-unit range, and the record shows it: Nilah loses at 42.3% across 444 games on patch 16.13.1.

Featherstorm compounds the problem. Xayah leaps up, becomes untargetable and throws another fan of daggers, which dodges an Apotheosis pull and reloads the root that follows. Add 630 base health and 2,449 at level 18 against 570 and 2,287, and the exchange rarely finishes inside the window Nilah needs. Deadly Plumage grants attack speed and, when she attacks a champion, move speed, so kiting away from a spent dash is straightforward for her.

The counterplay that exists is narrow and worth naming. Feathers have to be lying on the ground for Bladecaller to matter, so watching where they land is more useful than watching Xayah herself. Both champions are physical, so armor serves both and neither gains an itemization edge; her 25 base armor is thinner than it looks in a straight all-in, and Formless Blade extending Nilah’s attack range is the cheapest way to test it. Jubilant Veil dodges her attacks but not the root, which makes it an approach tool rather than an escape. Difficulty is rated 10 for Nilah and 5 for Xayah.
