The FACEIT gaming platform has conducted a large-scale wave of bans in Counter-Strike 2 after updating the anti-cheat system for detecting intruders. The esports service blocked 11,057 accounts for multiaccounting and smurfing in CS2 in just one day. Meanwhile, over the past three months, the anti-smurfing system has issued more than 45,000 punishments for similar reasons.

A large-scale wave of blockages on the platform

The FACEIT esports platform has reported on a new series of account blockages that violate the rules of the service. According to the company, the upgraded smurf and multiuser account detection system allowed 11,057 profiles to be banned in just one day. Based on the above, anti-cheat programs and internal site moderation tools have tightened control over unfair play and circumvention of the protection systems of the FACEIT rating system.

The developers specified that over the past three months, 45,148 accounts have already been blocked for similar reasons — for smurfing in CS2 and using multiple registrations. The CS2 gaming community is advised to check the notifications tab, as many users’ Elo score may have changed significantly due to mass bans. The rating system redistributes points based on the removal of dishonest matchmaking participants.

The system for combating violations of the rules of the platform

Updating the anti-cheat system has become a key factor in the successful detection of intruders. Automatic moderation combined with manual verification makes it possible to effectively detect suspicious activity and identify players using multi-user accounts in order to manipulate the trust rating.

Reporting system

The reporting system and activity monitoring work around the clock, analyzing game statistics and behavioral patterns. It frees the hands of the moderators of the platform to promptly take a look at player complaints and apply both temporary and permanent blocking, taking into account the severity of the violation.

Technical requirements and the future of the platform

Earlier, FACEIT announced the termination of support for Windows 10 — starting from October 14, 2026, a newer version of the operating system will be required to play on the platform. Anti-cheat technology updates and technical requirements are gradually increasing, which, according to the developers, should improve the quality of fair matches and reduce the number of cheaters in Counter-Strike 2.

Among other things, the gaming network is implementing an improved warning system in order to inform the CS2 community about potential violations before applying sanctions. This gives players the opportunity to adjust their behavior and avoid punishment for smurfing.

Changes to the rating reset schedule

Representatives of FACEIT gaming services announced a change in the timing of the upcoming reset of the ELO rating. Now the rating and ELO adjustments are scheduled for November 16 at 21:00 Moscow time — a week earlier than the original dates. The decision is valid for the complete stabilization of the trust rating after mass blockages.

Gaming talent must improve by globally clearing the gaming network of balance violators. The ban statistics show that the platform is serious about maintaining fair play and protecting against cheating in esports disciplines.

The reaction of the gaming community

The CS2 community positively reacted to FACEIT’s actions to combat rule violations. Many game leaders noted that the anti-smurfing system has finally started to work effectively. To put it succinctly, blocking FACEIT accounts has become a necessary measure to maintain a competitive environment.

At the same time, some users are concerned about the possibility of erroneous bans. In such cases, there is a procedure for appealing the ban and restoring the account upon confirmation of identity. The rules for using the platform clearly regulate the process of appealing against moderation decisions.

Prospects for the development of protection

Finally, it is worth adding that FACEIT continues to invest in the development of anti-cheat technologies. It is planned to further improve the cheat detection systems in Counter-Strike 2 and other games. Game seasons will be accompanied by regular security updates, which will create more comfortable conditions for trustworthy participants.

Statistics show the effectiveness of the current approach: more than 11,000 accounts were blocked per day, which confirms the functionality of the updated system. This will change the skill vector towards creating a fair competitive environment on the FACEIT esports platform.
