KIWOOM DRX defeated ZETA DIVISION in a three-map series

KIWOOM DRX defeated ZETA DIVISION 2-1 in their VCT Pacific match. The teams exchanged narrow victories on Lotus and Sunset. DRX then controlled the second half of Haven.

Lotus ended 13-11 for DRX before ZETA answered 13-11 on Sunset. Haven produced the widest score of the series. DRX won the deciding map 13-6 and closed the match.

The score remained close on Lotus

ZETA selected Lotus and began on attack. The Japanese team reached the side change with a narrow advantage. DRX remained within one round and avoided a damaging early gap. The Korean side improved after changing to attack. Its players coordinated their entries and kept enough equipment for the closing rounds. ZETA still reached eleven, but DRX won the final two rounds.

A 13-11 score gave DRX the first map without overtime. The result also moved pressure onto ZETA’s own defensive plans for Sunset. Neither team had controlled the entire opener.

ZETA won Sunset by the same score

Sunset followed a similar pattern with the teams separated by small margins. ZETA used its defensive half to slow several DRX attacks. The match remained open late in regulation. ZETA reached thirteen rounds before DRX could force overtime. The 13-11 win levelled the series at one map each. It also created a full deciding map on Haven.

The identical scores did not reflect identical games. Lotus improved for DRX after halftime, while ZETA protected its Sunset lead. Each team won the map selected by its opponent.

DRX built a clear lead on Haven

Haven offers three sites and rewards quick changes of direction. DRX handled those rotations better during the decider. Its defensive setups repeatedly forced ZETA into late decisions.

The first half still left ZETA with a possible route back. DRX then won a stronger sequence after changing sides. The Korean team reached match point before ZETA could build another run.

Haven ended 13-6 and removed the tension of the first two maps. DRX won seven more rounds than ZETA on the decider. That margin decided the final series score.

DRX won more rounds across the series

DRX won twenty-six rounds across its two map victories. ZETA collected seventeen rounds on those maps. ZETA’s Sunset success added thirteen rounds against eleven. The combined round score was 37-30 for DRX. Tournament records still use maps to decide the match. The round total only shows where the final separation appeared.

Haven supplied most of that difference. The first two maps were separated by two rounds each. A seven-round gap on Haven gave DRX the clearer finish.

Both teams responded after losing a map

ZETA did not collapse after losing Lotus. The team answered on Sunset and forced the third map. DRX also recovered after losing its chance to finish in two maps. Both teams now carry a three-map record from the meeting. The first two maps supplied close defensive and attacking halves. Haven then gave DRX the widest lead of the series.

DRX earned the victory on Lotus and Haven, while ZETA took Sunset. The two teams played sixty-seven rounds across the series. DRX won seven more rounds overall.

The first two maps ended with matching scores

DRX won Lotus 13-11 before ZETA took Sunset by the same score. Each side therefore entered Haven with twenty-four round wins. The deciding map alone separated the teams in the series result.

DRX built the only large lead on Haven

DRX won Haven 13-6 and added seven rounds to its overall advantage. DRX therefore finished the series with a 37-30 round advantage. ZETA collected more rounds on the first two maps than on the complete decider.

The three-map result sends DRX forward from the upper-bracket quarter-final. ZETA remains in the event through the lower bracket. The tournament paths differ, although both teams continue in Pacific Stage 2.

DRX secured its second map win on Haven

DRX needed two map wins and achieved them on Lotus and Haven. ZETA’s Sunset response levelled the match between those results. The final record keeps the maps in their played order and shows which team earned each point.

Haven produced nineteen rounds, five fewer than each opening map. DRX won eight rounds before halftime and five after the side change. ZETA answered with four defensive rounds and two attacking rounds.
