Gentle Mates bring H1ber back to VCT for Stage 2 Play-Ins

Gentle Mates changed their active roster before the VCT EMEA Stage 2 Play-Ins. Joona “H1ber” Parviainen joins the lineup, while Taranvir “bipo” Singh moves to the bench.

H1ber returns to top-level European competition after earlier periods with FNATIC, Team Vitality and KOI. Gentle Mates won two of their five Stage 2 group matches.

The change arrives before elimination matches

Gentle Mates finished the group stage outside a direct playoff place. The Play-Ins provide another chance to reach the final bracket. A late roster change gives H1ber limited time with the full lineup. Official matches will show how quickly the new roles connect. Bipo had joined Gentle Mates before the 2026 season. His strong Challengers performances had earned an opportunity in the partnership league.

The team reached the upper final at EMEA Kickoff and later qualified for Masters Santiago. That run included important international wins. Gentle Mates won two of five matches during Stage 2. H1ber now enters the active lineup for the next phase. The announcement confirms the roster status without giving a fixed duration for every later event. Bipo remains on the bench after leaving the active lineup.

H1ber has played at international VCT events

H1ber played for FNATIC during the 2022 season and appeared at Masters Reykjavík. That period gave him experience against teams from other regions. He later spent time with Team Vitality and KOI. Those stops added knowledge of different coaching systems and player roles. His most recent competition came below the partnership level. Returning with Gentle Mates gives him a new VCT opportunity.

H1ber has also held a substitute place with Finland for the Esports Nations Cup. The national role sits beside his club work. Past experience does not guarantee an immediate result. It does mean he has already played on large stages and inside international formats. Gentle Mates add that experience to a lineup containing Proxh, starxo, marteen and Minny. Their first Play-In match will reveal the exact setup.

Bipo moves to the bench

Bipo entered the year after attracting attention as a duelist in tier-two competition. Gentle Mates promoted that form into a VCT role. The team then made a strong Kickoff run and reached Masters Santiago. Gentle Mates beat EDward Gaming and Team Liquid during the international event. Losses to All Gamers and eventual champion Nongshim RedForce ended the playoff run. Bipo still gained his first full experience at that level.

Stage 1 ended with a playoff loss against Eternal Fire. Gentle Mates later produced a deeper run in the Esports World Cup competition. Gentle Mates won two of five Stage 2 matches. The organisation then moved bipo to the bench and added H1ber before the elimination phase. Moving to the bench does not erase Bipo’s earlier contribution. It changes his status for the confirmed Play-In lineup.

Four players remain in the active lineup

Proxh, starxo, marteen and Minny remain on the active roster. H1ber therefore enters a group with an established core. That continuity reduces the number of new connections required. Four players already share the team’s existing communication and utility habits. H1ber now adds his own agent pool to those habits. Map choices may influence which role receives the largest adjustment.

The first team to win two maps wins a Play-In match. The lineup therefore requires options across several maps. The coaching staff can retain familiar defensive structures around the new player. Attacking timings may require more immediate work. The confirmed roster provides the starting point. Claims about hidden tactical changes would go beyond the public announcement.

H1ber can debut during the Play-Ins

Gentle Mates do not receive a long exhibition period before the new lineup matters. The next matches affect qualification directly. H1ber’s first appearance will therefore matter to both player and team. A win keeps Gentle Mates in the upper bracket. The opposing staff now have less recent footage of this exact five-player group. Gentle Mates also have less official footage for their own review.

Communication during difficult rounds will show the level of preparation. Those moments often expose a new lineup more clearly than easy wins. The roster decision is complete for the announced phase. The results will determine whether Gentle Mates turn the late change into a playoff place.

The change follows a difficult group stage

Gentle Mates reached the Play-Ins after finishing the group with two wins and three defeats. That record left the team outside a direct playoff place. H1ber joins before the elimination phase begins. Bipo moves to the bench, while the remaining four players keep their active positions.

The first match provides immediate evidence about the new lineup. It also places H1ber back inside VCT competition after time away from the league.
