Dragon Ranger beat Wolves Esports 2-1 in China Stage 2 play-ins

Dragon Ranger Gaming defeated Wolves Esports 2-1 in the upper quarterfinals of the VCT China Stage 2 play-ins. Wolves Esports won 13-11 on Lotus. Dragon Ranger then won Haven and the map named Summit.

The final map scores were 13-11 for Wolves, then 13-9 and 13-8 for Dragon Ranger. Dragon Ranger advanced through the upper bracket, while Wolves moved into the lower round.

Wolves Esports won Lotus 13-11

Wolves removed Breeze before the teams selected their maps. Dragon Ranger answered by removing Sunset from the available pool. Wolves chose Lotus and started the series on familiar ground. Dragon Ranger selected the second map, Haven. The map named Summit remained available as the decider. Lotus became the closest map of the match. Wolves took five attacking rounds before adding eight rounds after the side change. Dragon Ranger collected seven rounds while defending before the side change. Wolves then protected a narrow advantage and won the map 13-11.

The opener lasted more than one hour because several pauses extended play. The final score still showed how little separated the teams on Lotus. Spring and glacier supplied important attacking pressure for Wolves. Nicc kept Dragon Ranger close with consistent opening work and useful support. Wolves therefore entered Haven with a one-map lead. Dragon Ranger needed an immediate response on the map it had selected.

Dragon Ranger levelled the series on Haven

Dragon Ranger defended more effectively on Haven. The team collected seven rounds before the sides changed. Wolves won six rounds during its opening attack. That kept the map close, but Dragon Ranger controlled the next phase. Dragon Ranger added six attacking rounds and finished Haven 13-9. The win levelled the series without requiring extra rounds. Nicc recorded fifteen kills on Haven and remained active in opening duels. Verse added seventeen kills while working around Omen’s utility.

SpiritZ1 also found nineteen eliminations during the second map. Those contributions reduced the pressure on Dragon Ranger’s attacking entries. Spring led Wolves with twenty-three kills on Haven. His individual output could not prevent Dragon Ranger from controlling the closing rounds. The 13-9 result sent the match to the deciding map named Summit. Both teams entered that map with one victory each.

Dragon Ranger won 13-8 on the map named Summit

The deciding map named Summit began with several close rounds. Dragon Ranger led 9-3 before the teams changed sides. Wolves needed a large defensive recovery after changing sides. The team won five more rounds but never removed the earlier deficit. Dragon Ranger won four attacking rounds and completed a 13-8 victory on Summit. The decider lasted just over forty-three minutes. Life recorded the most kills on the final map. He finished the map named Summit with twenty-six kills and only fourteen deaths.

Vo0kashu added eighteen kills and twelve assists during the decider. His Cypher work also supported Dragon Ranger’s control of the map. Glacier recorded sixteen kills for Wolves on the final map. Yosemite added fourteen, but Dragon Ranger won the decisive fights more often. The final two rounds completed Dragon Ranger’s recovery from Lotus. Wolves could not force another late comeback after closing the opening map.

The score stayed close on all three maps

Dragon Ranger won thirty-seven rounds across the complete series. Wolves collected thirty rounds and remained competitive on every selected map. Life finished the match with fifty-four kills for Dragon Ranger. Vo0kashu followed with forty-nine kills and provided ten assists. Nicc recorded forty-three kills and thirty-one assists across three maps. Verse also reached forty-three kills and supplied thirty-two assists. Spring and glacier each reached fifty-four kills for Wolves. Their totals kept the series close despite the defeat on both later maps.

Yosemite produced forty-eight kills, while aluba added forty-one. Deryeon finished with twenty-seven kills and twenty-five assists. The seven-round series advantage came mainly from the final map. The first two maps produced only six rounds of combined separation. Those totals explain the shape of the match without hiding the result. Wolves started better, while Dragon Ranger finished with greater control.

Dragon Ranger advance in the upper bracket

Dragon Ranger remained in the upper side of the play-in bracket. The team advanced to another match for a Stage 2 playoff place. Wolves moved into the lower round after the defeat.
