GIANTX face Eintracht Frankfurt in the VCT EMEA Stage 2 play-ins on 6 August. Their best-of-three series begins in the upper opening round.
GIANTX enter from the VCT group stage. Eintracht qualified by winning the EMEA Last Chance Qualifier. The winner remains in the upper bracket, while the loser moves to the lower side.
GIANTX changed two players before Stage 2
GIANTX began the summer with westside, Flickless and ara from its earlier roster. Michael “neT” Bernet joined after Cloud moved to FNATIC. The club described neT as a secondary caller. Cihan “musz3kk” Göçer was announced for the remaining position. Visa problems prevented him from playing an official match. Adam “Jesse” Čtvrtníček first arrived as a stand-in. GIANTX made Jesse’s position permanent on 25 July. The active five then became Jesse, neT, Flickless, ara and westside. Daniil “pipsoN” Meshcheryakov remains the head coach.
The new group lost 0-2 to FNATIC and Karmine Corp. GIANTX then beat Eternal Fire 2-0 and recorded its first Stage 2 series victory. Jesse played all four Stage 2 group series with the current lineup. The Frankfurt meeting is their first series in the play-in bracket.
Frankfurt won five qualifier series in six days
Eintracht began the Last Chance Qualifier against UCAM Esports Club. The German team recovered from losing Split and won the series 2-1. Mandatory then took Ascent in the winner’s match. Frankfurt answered on Lotus and Fracture to secure another 2-1 result. The playoff stage brought three straight victories without a map loss. Frankfurt beat FOKUS 2-0 and then defeated Mandatory by the same score.
The final against Çilekler ended 3-0 on 12 July. Frankfurt won Lotus 13-4. The team then completed 13-9 victories on Ascent and Haven. That run placed Eintracht in the Stage 2 play-ins. The qualifier record contains five wins and only two lost maps.
Eintracht kept the same five through the qualifier
Alessio “musashi” Xhaferi and Luca “azury” Sammer form part of Frankfurt’s active group. Ryad “Jamelinho213” Bentot, David “Fizzy” Figueiredo and Ondřej “MONSTEERR” Petrů complete the five. The players started every match during the successful qualifier run. Khian-Kai “kendo” Rufin is listed as the substitute. TonY leads the team as head coach. Lotus appeared in three of Frankfurt’s five qualifier victories. The team won it against UCAM, Mandatory and Çilekler. Haven also produced two confirmed wins.
GIANTX’s recent group matches used the active five named for Stage 2. Jesse replaced musz3kk before the win over Eternal Fire. Frankfurt used the same starting five throughout its successful qualifier run. GIANTX also kept its current five after the win over Eternal Fire.
Two map wins keep the winner in the upper bracket
The opening round uses a best-of-three format. A team advances after winning two maps. A third map is played only when the first two are split. The play-in uses a double-elimination bracket. The winner of GIANTX against Frankfurt stays in the upper bracket. The losing team receives another match in the lower bracket. GIANTX reached this stage through the VCT EMEA group schedule. Frankfurt entered from the regional qualifier and carries no partnered-league place.
NAVI and Joblife meet in the bracket’s other opening series. Later rounds connect the winners and losing teams from both matches. GIANTX and Frankfurt have not played a recent official series with these current lineups. The 6 August match creates their first direct result.
Frankfurt’s July run supplied detailed form
Frankfurt played five qualifier series between 7 and 12 July. The team won eleven maps and lost only two. Both defeats came during the first two best-of-three matches. Lotus appeared four times across the run. Frankfurt won three of those games. Haven produced victories against UCAM and Çilekler.
The final was the only best-of-five series. Frankfurt needed three map wins and completed them without using a fourth map. GIANTX’s current five entered official play later in July. Jesse became permanent on the same day as the 2-0 victory over Eternal Fire.
The opening round gives both teams a second chance
The play-in bracket gives every opening participant two possible paths. A first win keeps a team above the elimination matches. A first loss sends it to the lower side. GIANTX and Frankfurt therefore remain active after one defeat. A second loss in the lower bracket would end the run.
Their opening match has a confirmed best-of-three format. The first team to collect two map victories advances in the upper bracket.
