G2 Esports beat Sentinels 2-1 in VCT Americas Stage 2. Sentinels took Breeze 13-11, before G2 answered with wins on Lotus and Split.
Each map remained competitive into the second half. G2 improved its late-round control and completed the reverse sweep with a 13-8 win on Split.
Sentinels protected a narrow Breeze lead
Sentinels selected Breeze after removing Sunset. G2 used Chamber and Viper, while Sentinels built its attack around long-range control. The teams reached the middle of the map with little separation. Neither defence could produce a long sequence without an answer. BABYBAY supplied G2’s strongest opening pressure. Leaf and trent helped the team remain within reach when Sentinels gained the advantage. Sentinels managed the final rounds better. The team reached twelve first and closed Breeze on the next defensive chance. The 13-11 score showed how close the map had been. One lost trade or delayed rotation could have changed the result. G2 entered Lotus behind in the series but without a large performance gap. The team needed cleaner finishes rather than a complete change of style.
Lotus was G2’s selection. The wider rotation paths allowed the team to vary its attacks and place more pressure on Sentinels’ information. Sentinels still kept the score close. The defence denied several early entries and prevented G2 from building a comfortable lead. G2 improved its trading around the sites. A first death no longer ended the complete attack because another player was prepared to answer. Leaf became important during the slower rounds. His utility protected space and gave G2 time to choose the final approach. G2 won the map 13-10. The result levelled the series and rewarded the stronger decisions during the closing phase. Sentinels reached ten rounds but could not stop G2’s last complete purchases. The teams then moved to Split.

G2 found more space on Split
Split demanded close coordination around narrow entries. G2 created that space through early utility and fast support for the first player. Jawgemo’s movement kept Sentinels from holding one fixed angle. BABYBAY also continued to challenge the opening duel. G2 reached the second half with a stronger position than on the earlier maps. Sentinels needed a longer recovery to keep the series alive.
The defence protected the lead by controlling the centre of the map. Sentinels had fewer safe routes between the two sites. G2 completed Split 13-8. The five-round margin was the largest of the series and reflected the team’s improved control. Split ended without another late finish. G2 closed the final rounds before Sentinels could rebuild its economy.
The reverse sweep came through steady adjustments
G2 did not dominate the complete match. The team lost the opponent’s pick and faced pressure throughout Lotus. The difference appeared in the final rounds of the next two maps. G2 kept players available for trades and avoided isolated fights. Sentinels won eleven rounds on Breeze and ten on Lotus. Those totals show that the series remained competitive before Split. G2’s wider contribution also mattered. Different players led important rounds instead of one scorer carrying every map. Sentinels produced its best closing rounds on Breeze. G2 then gained more control as the series moved through Lotus and Split. G2 left with a 2-1 victory after winning twenty-six of the final forty-four rounds. The recovery was built one map at a time.

Sentinels protected their Breeze selection after a close second half. G2 then moved to Lotus with only a small performance gap to correct. G2 improved its trades around the sites. A lost opening duel no longer ended the complete attack because support arrived immediately. Leaf controlled space during the slower rounds, while trent supplied information for the final approach. G2 won the closing purchases and levelled the match. Split then rewarded the same coordination in narrower areas. G2 reached each entry with utility and a player ready to trade. Sentinels could not repeat the late control shown on Breeze. G2 protected the lead and completed the reverse sweep with its widest map margin. The series changed through better support around first contact. G2 won the final two maps after losing the opponent’s selection.
BABYBAY and trent supplied different pressure
BABYBAY remained active in opening duels and kept G2 close on Breeze. His direct challenges forced Sentinels to protect long sight lines. Trent supplied information and damage across all three maps. His utility became more influential on Lotus and Split. Jawgemo added movement around the narrow Split entries. Sentinels could not hold one fixed defensive angle against those attacks.
Lotus required patience during a close finish. Split gave G2 an earlier lead and a simpler final phase. The 2-1 result added a group-stage win for G2. Sentinels took Breeze but could not carry that control into the remaining maps.
