Valorant patch 13.02 expands Retake and adjusts Phoenix

Valorant patch 13.02 adds three maps to the Retake mode. Split, Corrode and Lotus now join the available rotation. The update also increases the cost of Phoenix’s ultimate ability.

Riot delayed the planned AROS update for Replication. Several agent bugs were fixed across PC and console. The patch also corrects a visual problem in the packet-loss graph.

Retake receives three more maps

Retake places attackers and defenders into the final stage of a round. The spike is already planted when each scenario begins. Players then practise entries, utility and coordinated site recovery.

Split introduces compact sites and several important height changes. Retaking often requires pressure from two narrow approaches. The map gives teams repeated practice around those difficult entrances.

Corrode adds a newer layout to the same mode. Its sites include open lanes and protected defensive positions. Players receive a shorter route toward learning common post-plant fights. Lotus brings rotating doors and three available sites. That structure creates more varied Retake scenarios. Teams also practise decisions when several routes remain open.

The mode uses shorter sessions than a complete competitive match. Players reach repeated late-round situations without a full setup phase. The expanded map list reduces repetition during longer practice sessions.

Retake does not reproduce every part of normal Valorant. Economy, opening movement and early information are mostly removed. Its value comes from focused practice in a specific round phase.

Phoenix requires one more ultimate point

Phoenix now requires seven points to activate Run It Back. The ability previously cost six points. Its basic function remains unchanged in this update.

Run It Back places a temporary marker at Phoenix’s position. He returns there when the timer ends or his copy dies. The ability allows him to take one aggressive fight with protection.

Ultimate points come from kills, orbs and completed rounds. A higher cost usually delays the next activation. The exact delay depends on Phoenix’s contribution during each map.

The change targets availability rather than direct damage. Phoenix keeps the same weapons and movement during the ultimate. Opponents still hear and see the familiar activation information.

Professional teams use the adjustment under each approved tournament patch. Some current competitions remain on an earlier version. Tournament organisers publish patch information with each match schedule. Regular players receive the new cost immediately after updating. Their saved agent settings do not require any change. Only the point requirement changes between the two versions.

The patch contains fixes for several agents and abilities. These changes address unintended behaviour rather than planned balance changes. They therefore affect specific situations instead of every round.

Omen and KAY/O receive corrections to ability interactions. Cypher and Gekko also have individual issues resolved. The notes include fixes involving visibility, targeting and state changes.

Miks, Reyna and Chamber appear in the same repair list. Waylay, Jett and Raze also receive targeted corrections. Their core ability values remain outside the main balance changes.

Deadlock and Vyse complete another part of the agent work. Small interaction bugs become important during close competitive rounds. A consistent result helps players understand what an ability will do.

Some bugs appear only after several abilities overlap. Others depend on map geometry or unusual timing. The patch removes cases reproduced by the development team.

The repair list is broad but not a full agent update. Phoenix receives the only highlighted point-cost change. Most other agents simply return to their intended behaviour.

Patch 13.02 fixes Summit and console bugs

One map fix concerns the moving door on Summit. Riot listed incorrect ability interactions among the repaired defects. The new version restores the intended behaviour around that object.

Map bugs often depend on a precise position near geometry. They may affect projectiles, traps or movement. Removing them prevents a repeated advantage from one small location. Console receives fixes involving Chamber, Yoru and Waylay. Those corrections address behaviour specific to controller play. The PC version does not require every console repair.

A separate console fix concerns modes without standard abilities. The problem appeared when certain agent systems were disabled. The correction keeps those limited modes working as designed.

Cross-platform balance remains the same despite separate input systems. The repair notes distinguish problems that appear on one platform. Players therefore receive fixes relevant to their version.

No map enters or leaves the main competitive pool here. The three map additions apply to Retake. Standard ranked selection follows its existing rotation.

Patch 13.02 does not include the AROS update

The planned AROS work for Replication did not ship with this patch. Riot removed that feature from version 13.02 before release. The notes do not provide a replacement release date.

Replication therefore continues under its current rules. Players do not receive a partial version of the change. The delay keeps unfinished work outside the live client.

A cosmetic PC fix also appears in the update. The packet-loss graph displayed an incorrect visual pattern. The correction improves the graph without changing network performance.

Players use that graph when examining connection problems. A clean display makes sudden packet loss easier to recognise. It does not repair an unstable internet connection itself. Patch 13.02 is therefore a focused maintenance release. Retake receives the largest visible content addition. Phoenix receives the only major numerical change.

The remaining work improves consistency across agents, maps and platforms. Every listed fix is active after the client update. Replication’s AROS change remains the one announced exception.
