The latest update, Patch 14.4, brings notable changes to League of Legends (LoL), including a revamp of Rek’Sai and adjustments to the abilities of Smolder and Maokai

Riot Games has recently unveiled the highly anticipated final adjustments for the 14.4 update of their immensely popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game, League of Legends. The comprehensive patch, which has been eagerly awaited by the game’s passionate community, was officially presented on the game’s official website. This latest update comes as part of Riot Games’ ongoing efforts to ensure a balanced and engaging gameplay experience for all players. Following the major item revamp that took place at the beginning of the season, the developers have been meticulously fine-tuning the game’s item balance to create a more dynamic and strategic environment.

In this final version of the update, we see that the majority of the changes closely align with the early iteration that was previously shared with the community. This consistency demonstrates Riot Games’ dedication to carefully considering player feedback and crafting a polished and well-rounded gaming experience.

Some changes in patch 14.4

  • Smolder: The number of Q projectiles has been adjusted from 2 (+1 per 100 charges of the passive ability) to 1 (+1 per 67 stacks). The cooldown of W has been reduced from 13/12.5/12/11.5/11 to 14/13/12/11/10 seconds, and the damage has been changed from 70/90/110/130/150 (+25% attack damage) and (+35% ability power) to 50/80/110/140/170 (+25% AD) and (+20% AP).
  • Maokai: The armor has been decreased from 39 to 35, and the damage of Q has been lowered from 70-270 to 65-265. The duration of control from the ultimate’s roots has been shortened from 0.8-2.6 to 0.75-2.25.
  • Ahri: The health growth has been increased from 96 to 104, and the magic damage coefficient of Q has been raised from 45% to 50%.
  • Jayce: The attack damage has been raised from 57 to 59, and the mana regeneration in melee form has been adjusted from 10-20 to 15-25. The magic damage of W has been increased from 35-110 to 40-115.
  • Kai’Sa: The range of R’s flight has been increased from 1500-3000 to 2000-3000.
  • Soraka: The movement speed during the passive ability has been increased from 70% to 90%, and the healing of Q has been raised from 50-110 to 60-120. The cooldown of the ultimate has been reduced from 160-130 to 150-120.
  • Thresh: The armor has been increased from 28 to 31, and the damage of E has been adjusted from 75-235 to 75-255. The cooldown of the ultimate has been reduced from 140-100 to 120-80 seconds.
  • Varus: The base attack damage has been lowered from 62 to 60 AD.
  • Zyra: The damage of plants has been decreased from 20-88 ability power to 16-84, while the bonus damage to monsters has been increased from 40-100 to 60-100.
  • Umbral Glaive: The item now provides 6/7/8 units of armor and magic resistance per charge instead of 3/4/5, and the maximum number of stacks has been reduced from ten to six.

The highly anticipated 14.4 update is scheduled to launch during the night of February 22, 2024. With the patch’s arrival, players will witness the return of the previous rating system for lower ranks, where they can expect an average fluctuation of 25 LP per match (compared to the current +/- 28 LP). This modification aims to create a smoother and more gradual progression for players, enhancing the overall experience of climbing the ranks.
