The developers have already promised that the next update will feature a new world – “Museum”, as well as emotions for the heroes and a few more nice additions.

What is R.E.P.O. and why is it so addictive?
Remember Lethal Company, where you and your friends wander around creepy locations in search of scrap metal, trying not to fall into the clutches of monsters? Well, R.E.P.O. takes the same basis, but adds a generous portion of realistic physics and procedurally generated levels, where everything around you tends to go wrong. Instead of banal collection of junk, here you have to literally carry out valuable artifacts with precision. If you catch on a door, you break a cup worth two thousand, if you jump unsuccessfully, you damage a vase, and its price immediately drops. And your friends are running around, accidentally crashing into you, knocking you down – try to carry a piano intact from the other end of the map after that.
You won’t be able to remember the routes in advance: each foray is a new puzzle. The rooms are shuffled, new traps and obstacles appear, so you have to improvise on the fly and constantly keep your ears open. And as if that weren’t enough, there are also monsters roaming the map. Each with its own character: some react to sounds, some to movements, and some just come to destroy everything you’ve so painstakingly collected. Here’s just a small part of those you’ll have to face:
- The duck-morph – jumps in front of you and quacks, but if you touch it – it turns into an aggressive creature capable of causing serious damage.
- The blind old man with a shotgun – reacts to any noise and kills with one shot.
- The huge red creature – pulls players to itself and instantly destroys.
- The babies-destroyers – love to smash everything in your cart, sowing chaos on the way to the exit.
With each new sortie it gets hotter. At first – simple maps and few enemies. But closer to the sixth trip, the game begins to test your nerves. Try to pull a piano out of the basement without dropping it with two or three people – especially when one of your friends stubbornly grabs it from the other end or starts yelling in the voice chat. Chaos, laughter, panic immediately breaks out – and now someone is lying on the floor, a cup is smashed, and an ominous growl is heard behind your back.
But it is precisely in this chaos that all the charm of R.E.P.O.. is. No sortie will be the same twice. Each one is a unique story, where stupidity, luck and team madness are mixed in the best traditions of cooperative madness.
For saved trophies, the team receives money – it can be spent on pumping. Someone will increase strength, someone – jumping ability or speed. Sometimes a drone appears in the shop – a real find if you need to pull something bulky from the other end of the level. And if you invest all your money in one of the team members, he will become a real tank – he will even be able to lift monsters and throw them into pits. Very practical if everyone wants to survive.
Team Madness: Why Playing R.E.P.O. With Friends Is the Best Solution
Yes, you can play R.E.P.O. alone, but trust me — you’ll be missing out. The real fun starts when your friends join in. Imagine: you’re carefully arranging valuables in a cart, trying not to drop anything, gently placing an antique vase worth three grand… and then your comrades burst in with a huge ice cube. Of course, they try to shove it there — into that very cart — scattering everything you’ve so carefully collected. The cube, by the way, can also turn into a pile of shards. Well, that’s okay — there’s always a fair punishment for such behavior: throwing the idiots right into the clutches of local monsters.
Or here’s another classic: your friend finds a magic staff worth a fortune, grabs it and, without understanding, slams it against the wall. What happens? That’s right — a deadly ray bursts out of the staff, thoroughly frying the entire team. The voice chat at this point is a mix of panic, laughter, and screams in the style of “why did you do that?!”.
But don’t forget: despite all this chaos and fun, R.E.P.O. is still a horror game. The monsters here are not just decorations. When the chase begins, the real drama begins. Someone screams into the microphone, someone falls into a pit without looking at their feet, and someone drives themselves into a corner, where an unpleasant fate awaits them.
And if suddenly the whole team dies – no problem. The game offers another chance: the “everyone for themselves” mode. The winner is the one who throws the rest into the abyss and receives the title of King of the Losers – with a mini-crown on their forehead in the next run. One of the coolest features of the game is the voice chat with sound positioning. It works like this: the further away your partner is from you, the quieter you hear him, and if he hides behind a wall, his voice becomes muffled, as if through concrete. This is not just a technical detail, but a real element of the atmosphere: thanks to it, the game feels much more alive and dramatic. The situations when the team decides to split up are especially memorable. At first, you hear your comrade normally, then the voice begins to disappear, and now in the headphones there is a desperate: “Hey, where are you?!” – and then … silence. Cold, alarming. The game seems to tease: “Can you handle it yourself?”
And there are also moments when someone from the team runs away from the monster, and you hear how his screams become louder and louder – and then the realization comes: this genius is now going to lead the creature right to you. It’s time to either run away or look for a place to hide. Well, a small thing, but a nice one: the characters’ mouths move while they talk. Sometimes it looks so ridiculous that it becomes even funnier – especially when someone panics or starts screaming in fear.

Unlike Lethal Company, which focuses more on teamwork and horror, R.E.P.O. stands out for its attention to realistic physics. Here, almost every object in the world obeys the laws of physics, and this opens up a ton of unconventional ways to interact with the environment. Objects can not only be picked up and carried, but also:
- throw at enemies or buttons,
- stack on top of each other to reach high places,
- use as barricades to block doors,
- throw to the side to distract a monster with noise.
Even enemies are not immune to the effects of physics. They can get stuck in narrow doorways, knock over furniture on their way, or simply trip over a box. Sometimes this leads to unexpectedly funny scenes: for example, a huge, terrible monster falls to the floor with a crash, and you, without wasting time, run up and hit him on the head with a frying pan – pure comedy horror. Physics adds an element of chaos and unpredictability. Someone accidentally drops a heavy object, it lands with a crash – and now the whole team is running around the location in panic, trying to hide from the monster attracted by the noise. You can’t plan such moments – they happen spontaneously and therefore are especially memorable.
Physics works not only with the environment, but also in the relationships between players. In one of the funny episodes, my teammate carelessly threw a frying pan, and it hit me right in the forehead – the character fell like a sack of potatoes. Due to such moments, the game constantly feels alive. Levels generated on the fly and the complete absence of script rails make each playthrough unique. You never know what will happen next – and this is the main charm of R.E.P.O.
