True, the scale is more modest here – instead of endless galaxies, we have small but unique planets with their own landscape, vegetation and inhabitants. The first point of his journey is the “Pirate Bay”, where the player learns the basics of LEGO Worlds. Mastering the mechanics comes down to completing simple tasks in exchange for gold blocks. There are plenty of ways to get gold blocks: you can complete quests, look for hidden chests underground, or take part in multi-stage tasks. If you don’t feel like looking for rare frogs or building someone’s house, you can always just switch to another task and continue your adventure. Freedom is felt even in the controls. The hero can double jump, cling to surfaces, and even climb trees. This makes movement much easier: if a treasure chest is buried deep or you need to climb a huge statue, you won’t have to waste time building stairs, like in Minecraft. The only thing that is a little disappointing is the repetitive tasks. No matter what world you find yourself in, there will definitely be someone stuck on an island, and someone who urgently needs a new home. The quests come down to the standard scheme: put an object or bring something needed. Due to the lack of a plot, the tasks do not have mini-stories, which makes them less memorable. But otherwise, LEGO Worlds perfectly conveys the spirit of creativity and freedom, turning players into real builders of their world. This means that you will definitely not be bored here.

No resource gathering or searching for tools – everything is available from the very beginning. And if you want to get rare building elements, you will have to hunt monsters. These guys sometimes crawl out of the ground, but do not pose any particular danger – just catch up with them and take the reward.

Is it possible to just build?

A question that worries many: is it possible to focus only on construction, without flights and tasks? Yes, but there is a nuance – first you need to collect 100 gold blocks and get the title of master collector. From the very beginning, the game does not really stimulate creative construction:

• NPCs sometimes ask to build a house, but it is enough to put up four walls and a roof – no one will appreciate the beauty and details
• Creating complex statues or architectural masterpieces is pointless – in a couple of minutes you will most likely leave this world
• The “sandbox” mode, where you can build without restrictions, becomes available only after the campaign

All this looks like a strange decision, because it would be more logical to immediately open access to free construction, like in Minecraft.

But as soon as the mode becomes available, LEGO Worlds reveals its potential. Now you can not only build buildings and decorate the world, but also correct any imperfections in the landscape. The controls are intuitive even on a gamepad: for example, when painting, you can choose a color from hundreds of shades and adjust the brush size. Copying objects is also convenient – a transparent parallelepiped appears, which is easily adjusted to the desired size. The only downside is that the camera sometimes chooses unsuccessful angles, but otherwise the process is comfortable and enjoyable. And then, when you are no longer bound by restrictions, LEGO Worlds turns into an ideal platform for creativity. It’s just a pity that you still need to get to this point.
